There are some weird rendering issues with the Herald especially on the Switch but I noticed it on PC too, though less obvious and for shorter duration. Usually not being able to land means the terrain is not yet ‘solid’ but with the Herald it may mean the ship is not ‘solid’. Just a guess.
As I generally do these days, I use the end of an expedition as the start of a new game. It gives me the necessary push to start building all over again. My first priority is always raw materials mining, so I’m busy building bases to extract nitrogen, radon, oxygen, uranium, dioxite, paraffinium etc. I have 16 bases for collecting curious deposits - so in an hour, I can collect tens of thousands of nanites.
Alll this means I’m visiting a lot of planets, and I’m building a lot of bases. Not being able to land, or not being able to place base parts, gets super irritating.
You might try changing ships.
This is one reason I do not play on Switch. Unable to land and the terrain responds very slowly to the TM.
Landing has been a lot harder lately. I’ve noticed it mostly when trying to land at buildings that don’t have landing pads. On the PS5 it doesn’t even say that it cannot land, it just ignores the button. Landing on the slope away from the building is a lot more likely to succeed than landing on the flat area. Unfortunately I just get annoyed when it doesn’t work and haven’t kept track of time that it does, maybe I’m just being sensitive. But definitely it is happening more often than it used to.
And for the “too close to starship” error. That is one of my peeves, I don’t want to talk about it.
This was a cathartic bunch of messages. Feeling the landing difficulties too. Might be our new frisbee friend
And the can’t build near starship radius has a ridiculous height on it. I get it’s probably for anti griefing or accidental ship trapping purposes but you can just summon yr ship if that does happen so it’s not really a major issue…
I had one instance I was building up high and the empty pocket of air I was building towards was over the ship which was a good way down, got the cannot build near ship message.
Had to drop all the way back down, move it to the ocean, then climb my way back up
Not a base but awesome
Anyone want us to join? Now that we are supposed to be getting a banner, maybe we should put in an appearance.
This event is always at the only time per year when I’m travelling and not near a PC… I could at most join a Discord chat.
That’s cool, didn’t know about it.
This person found me on Bluesky. Wow!
I’m surprised bskyb, have yet to try and sue bsky.
What a fun little website from a traveller. So many hidden gems out there <3
This is amazing what builds that guy has!
In case anyone missed being part of The Liquidator Vanguard, this interactive base has you covered
Just uploaded it. No idea if it will show for you @toddumptious
Built on the parallelograms
There is a secret among the ruins
Can’t wait to go look. There was mention of fixing base visibility in a recent patch for Playstation so feelin confident I’ll see it. If not, no better time to test out cross save and boot the save up on PC
Will be playing again in a few hours, will report my findings once I do.
So awesome to see ways people use the wonder thingy. I forget about it.
I’ve used it on a few builds but only when I remember.
One neat little trick I discovered by building during an expedition and using wonder projectors is, when returning to a main save with the single base it allows you to bring back from an expedition, it kept the new wonders in the projectors, and didn’t disturb my already full wonders list from my main game.
So you can technically exceed the wonder list limit.
Of course it means I can never remov them, or those specific creatures will be lost forever in my main save.
Here’s Some bases I visited during the omega redux…
Sunken Wreck base
I liked the positioning of this one, it had a narrow path through the mountain leading to the galactic telephone POI whose name always escapes me
It was called Nugs and Nanites (priorities!)
Selling the nip nip buds at a planetary trade station didn’t give me the contraband milestone, but it dinged when I sold more later on at a space station.
