Base Building & Settlements in Frontiers

Oh nice! So you took your flooring up to the circular part of the landing pad. I took mine underneath and left the pad raised. This new landing pad is so nice to work with.

Added a storage area to my new base.

Yeah, your base is looking great. Remember what I said about hating the new build ui? Just ignore that

Adding a telescope to my base but it is now too large to upload.

I haven’t noticed that one before - when did that start?

I don’t know when. At 3,000+ pieces it becomes too large to upload but you can continue to build.

Okay, I admit this is not Frontiers. I was looking through old pics for [vague reasons that made sense at the time] and ran across a series from maybe my favorite engineering challenge base build ever.

Seeing the challenge:

Landing and getting out of the ship can feel like the hardest part:

yay! I’m all for observatories! And the diagram on the wall is great, too.

It’s not No Man’s Sky related (so feel free to ignore): In Space Engineers, I built a base that looked very similar to yours, and since Space Engineers has functional blocks (rotor, hinge, camera, screens, buttons), I can look through the camera and change the angle of the hinge and rotor, and watch the sky.

Of course you can

Edit: that was fun… real short clip.

The Cart Wheels fit perfectly inside the round windows. To place them, put a Flat Panel on the outside of the window and enlarge it enough to come across at least half of the window. Then wire glitch the wheel into the center. Delete the Flat Panel

This almost works as a telescope. If anyone finds improvements, please share.

A pic of my base is actually showing in the Teleporter menu

UPDATE: I uploaded some more of my old bases and they too now have pics in the Teleporter list.

I decided to build a shrine() in the old ETARC capital. Seemed fitting since some can no longer return.()

For those who would like to try to visit but, beware, save first…just in case.

EDIT: Not Euclid…Amsentisz Galaxy 54

I don’t remember there being a freighter wreckage within sight of the Edison portal? When did that ‘arrive’?

I once had a base on a distant mountain (on the right as you exit the portal). Was sort of a large floaty-rock formation with a cave below & a domed area up the top where my base was.
I relocated once the planet changed a few updates back

Hold up…so this is a portal and you have all been there?

Ahhh…
A long time ago … in the early days of this site, one of us located an interesting star formation which we decided to colonise like some of the other groups found online have done.
(Just a collective, not some over the top role playing empire or anything).
This was back when galactic navigation relied heavily on using a clever app, (not associated with Hello Games), that allowed one to plot a route across the galaxy. Portal relocation was a complicated process too, compared to now.
Our little colony wasn’t overly popular compared to others but a few members made the pilgrimage & lots of exploration ensued & several members built bases in that region…at least for a while. (There was only one base per player back in those days). Over time, we even chose a logo & assigned a capital system & planet.

Of course, as updates expanded the group player possibilities, the novelty wore off & most of us moved on to other regions of Euclid & beyond.

Now, its a mostly empty region again with some odd named systems & not much else, other than an interestingly long chain of stars.

Why can’t people return?
