Base Building Creations

I wonder if exotic planets are the only ones that changed? My main save planet had no changes except for a few clappies and puffies moving in.

I’m not sure;…the local normal type planets didn’t seem to change much that I can tell, but I can only go by memory.
My other (now deleted) base in this save has altered over the updates. After NEXT it was a watery world with green oceans and sky. After VISIONS is developed gigantic crystals but tuned to a reddish shade. After BEYOND the crystals turned into giant puffy seaweed… and the base broke so I packed up.

I don’t mind alterations, as the normal worlds are so much more vibrant and colourful now. I just wish the deleted-base-goodies machine (can’t think of its name) would simply hold everything and allow for an easy base breakdown after an update.

I just happened to like calci-shroom worlds the way they were so utilised them for bases. No good for any of the new farming tech anyway.

I have been playing on my Legacy save. The biggest issue that I had encountered was a slow-motion of the galaxy map. (its usable, but oh…so slow.)

I love the looks of your new base. Classy!

–just ran out of likes again. :sigh:

I  the inland swimming pool!

You going to build a glass dome over it? ;`)

Right now, I am wanting to buy what I can with QS and ‘plant’ things in there. I have the seaweed with the lights on it. That was all the QS I had since mine was stolen from me on the Nexus…:sob: Well, actually, this is a new save anyway.

I got my first QuickSilver from Nada. 150 QS to my name. Not even enough for a bathtub ring.

Finally took the plunge and fired up my Legacy save (PS4 normal).

I zipped to the anomaly to cash in my horde of salvaged tech and acquire the new technologies of BEYOND.
Eager to survey the damage, I used a space station teleporter and first headed back to my ancient little Wastelander Base that has survived 3 updates. It remains pretty much as I had left it so I added a solar power plant (to compliment the teleporter I added last update) and left it alone with its dirt filled floors and its broken doors hanging open.

My next stop was my comfortable home on a nearby lush planet where I had set up base during the awkward first days of NEXT. It was somewhat ruined with the centralised landing pad torn out and the connecting access locked off.

I took my time rebuilding the faulty vaults and rearranging the construction process around misbehaving base parts. Although it isn’t perfect, I now have an affixed landing pad, dedicated teleportation to my vaults and a retrofitted solar power system plus some additional decorative electrics in the cabin area. Sadly my carbon planters are all broken but I’ll leave them for now. Interestingly my resident Knowledge Stone turned into some new botany :grinning:

My next destination was deep into the outer reaches of Euclid to my smuggler’s tavern base, The Rusty Thruster. It is buried deep in a large hollow cylindrical stone structure on an extremely radioactive planet in an uncharted system. This required a simple new solar system and I removed the long spiral staircase, instead utilising the new short range teleporter. A new exocraft bay with a summoner are hidden below to facilitate the collection of storm crystals .

Off I set again to assess a few other basic bases and to delete a few others that weren’t worth the effort.
My last base for this session was my simple "lighthouse’ monument base in Etarcia on the capital planet Edison. It is nothing more than a small tower adorned with lights and surrounded by collectables. This was a fun retrofit as I removed all the dead lights, then networked an all new series of lights and criss-crossed wires, then added a basic inverter flasher set up… and now the lighthouse blinks on and off like a welcoming beacon should.

Only issue I had was the local wildlife deciding I looked rather tasty.

I remember this one, think I fell off the stairs on my first visit and began the long trek back up :joy: I also remember it being a lot darker and less vibrant but I think I was there at night mostly.

@toddumptious Yep that’s the one one…with the secretive little staircase underneath.
Haven’t tried to upload any of these yet. I’ll wait until discoveries is all working again and then do the rounds and upload the lot.
Still got a few more to fix first

So I switched up my home base for new playthrough. Found this interesting drop pod site, where the save beacon was on the ground but the drop pod was up on top a sheer and mossy cliff.

Looks good when lit up by visiting ships at night, as you can see my landing pad clipped to my storage container :joy:

Hard to get a decent shot in VR but the entire area is suspended above water and dips in and out of itself. Watched some birds get trapped in the water tunnels below and it was fun to watxh them dive around cavernous tunnels.

A bit off topic, but I was trying to make something similar to the image below, but for an exocraft race track. I am sure it can be done, likely even easier now, just time consuming

I played about with loops on an exocraft track in Next, when your exocraft goes upside down the control axis reverses and you plummet to the ground :frowning: Would be great if accelerate was a button or trigger instead of direction control. Although might not affect you pc peeps.

I did something similar using the boost tracks instead. Never actually got to testing the loop, but maybe the boost you get from the tracks itself is enough to make it through?

Reason I gave up on it was the time spent. I placed everything by manually editing the save file, which became too time consuming to want to continue. I may give it another try though and use some glitching techniques where possible.

Sure looks cool though, but how does the Nautilon handle a loop?

I know I started the off-topic discussion of building a race track myself. My bad!
I decided to move the discussion here instead, where it better fits the topic.

Yeah the boosts only make you hit the deck quicker.

As for the nautilon, I imagine it would do as well on a loop as it does in space

Oh my … too funny

Really looking forward to getting back into making some awesome bases. I have quite a few ideas, some new, some I have had for a while. Although I am not a big fan of multiplayer, I don’t think I would mind teaming up with some other creative builders like you. I am sure we could make some really cool bases, especially on PC. We can abuse pretty much everything and use any tricks we got. Creative mode with Save Editor for the win, then when finished just change the game mode and make it public for all to enjoy …
