Aquarius-Let's Go Fishin'

They think it was based on the fan art because Sean Murray said so. But Sean Murray is an image builder. He tries very hard to present himself as a happy-go-lucky fellow, much prone to impromptu gestures.

In fact, Sean Murray has built a multi-million pound business from nothing. And he did that by being both extremely hard working, and extremely disciplined. Although he would like you to think otherwise, I don’t believe he makes frivolous decisions. Anything appearing in the game now has been planned for years.

I recall Sean saying a few updates ago that Hello Games was now doing more of what interested the team. So maybe some are avid fishers.

As I said, Sean Murray puts considerable effort into presenting a particular image of himself. You can’t necessarily believe everything he says.

I don’t think he tells blatant lies - I think, rather, that he only presents parts of the truth, and even those parts are heavily embelished.

@AdaRynin is correct. You can go trolling by ‘placing’ your skiff where you want to go and then it will slowly troll you over to the spot. This makes perfect sense because I happen to have been raised in a family that fished a lot. Before trolling motors, you would use a paddle and slowly paddle over to a new spot. The point being, cranking up the motor would scare all the fish away. You want to move quietly. This does the job perfectly.

Im really not sure how conductive hovering over the water supported by trhusters would be to attracting fish, for that matter…

Well we can’t have everything.

I use this feature to place my pots before returning closer to my ship.
(I’ve found I preffer fishing off my ships wings than the skiff)

So, the skiff has a lot of storage room in the expedition but very little in normal mode. I have not found any way to increase it. This makes me wonder if we have a new dealer coming either to the space station or anomaly or perhaps a new merchant planet side

I thought Sean Murray said everything or anything way back.

Update: spelling😉

Well then, we can keep dreaming. :crossed_fingers:
And yes, I am fishing during a meteor storm

Did the same with a lightning storm, popped into photo mode for the first bolt and got flipped out by two bolts hitting close by as soon as I exited photo mode.

Built the food processor on my skiff last night (thanks for the tips guys!!) and it’s now my new bait and fish box since main save skiff has so few slots compared to expedition.

Finally getting rid of all the different types of meat etc that was taking up it’s inventory and the “size increase percentage” on hunted/cooked food is a lot better nearly every time than the craftable lures.

I’m sure someone is already hard at work on an XML sheet adding all the catch properties for the various food items and ingredients.

Speaking of XML sheets. If anyone has experience with those, would be fun to have a Google doc of all fish and the records of whose caught the biggest one in the forum.

I really wanna make a fishing tournament thread but I do not know how to start making a spreadsheet with all the fish. But I figure three columns should do.

Fish type. Size. Name of record holder.

If nobodies done it by the time someone else on the internet has put up a copy-paste list of all fish types, I’ll do it then.

160 is a lot though.

So maybe keep the perpetual fishing tournament to just Legendary Catches?

And we can all have fun trying to out catch eachother?

Okay I actually think I can do this now, it was the 160 fish that made it seem like busy work.

Just the Legendarys? That would be easy to maintain.

Would you take part in an ETARC Fishing Club with a Spreadsheet style thingy for record holders?

It can be a place for everyone to share their biggest or favourite catches and then also a place for recording those records. All fish welcome, but only Legendary fish on record? Unless someone thinks 160 fish will actually be easy to keep track of too? Maybe make it freely editable so people can add their own records?

I’ve no experience with sharing/editing Google docs and spreadsheets so maybe someone will know a better way to do this.

I caught a legendary fish last night. Going to start org my catches now that I am in my main save.
And I feel guilty because this was @AdaRynin 's tip. :worried:

Never gotten so many views. I even got called the clutch play mvp

I think @The_Corsair also mentioned this tip in the forum, that’s where I read it first , props to both for spreading the good word and congrats on the Twitter love <3 If anyone asks me I’ll tell them you discovered it first :stuck_out_tongue: Twitter never lies

hmm…currently, fish cannot be added to the wonder catalogue…I hope they change that. Really want to display my Legendary Fish.

So far in my main save, I have caught
10 common
1 common, storm
4 uncommon
1 legendary
and assorted junk…
and at least 6 messages in bottles. It might be worth keeping track of those as well. Interesting bits of lore with some of them.

Maybe some day they’ll have physical models, I can’t imagine anyones feeling up to animating that many models at HG rn, that’s months of work. Although most of em are colour variants and there aren’t 160 unique fishes, it’s still a big chunk of work for someone. Some of em are just variants of fish already in the game but then some are entirely new (I imagine these might actually be pulled from LNF models)

Wait, I thought they did? Or where are those screenshots from that show fish next to a lure?

They’re just visual indicators but not representative of the fish you can catch, there’s maybe four or five “catching” loop animations that can happen which dictate how many nibbles before a bite.

Size of fish during loop does not indicate size of catch, that’s signified by how long it takes to pull the line in. Which is a nice feeling everytime because your brain goes “ooh, I wonder what this big catch will be”

However, they do have unique images in the Discovery menu
And I stayed up until 1am fishing so I am kinda draggin’ tail today. Been organizing my crochet between naps.
