As the title says. I would like to be able to use “:P” without having it autocorrect to "
". I will journey from hell and back on foot before using a default emoji. Please help :3
(Mods feel free to nuke this post from orbit if I’m stupid and missed something in settings).

Not stupid at all
To be honest, I find the way it auto-completes pretty annoying myself as well. I regularly run into this issue. I am not a fan of work-arounds for things like this.
Sadly enough this is still a side wide setting and not an option to disable client side. Even the Discourse discussion over the years regarding this exact issue, has been to find work-arounds instead of actually solving the issue properly.
Oh, and I changed category to better fit the topic

A good alternative is to select or highlight the typed emoticon and then use the discourse formatting tools to make it preformatted text :) :( :D XD '^_^ ;0;
You’ll find the pre-formatted text option on the bar above displayed as </> or on mobile devices it will be hidden behind the plus icon on the end of the bar.
Alternatively on PC you can also press ctrl+e after highlighting your text and it will pre-format it then.

A company I worked for had a product name that contained a colon or hyphen, some fancy name like, “Serious:Product”. And every time it was mentioned in our business chat, it looked like
Serious
roduct…
So yes, it’s a valid question
