I know about the corn trees but what are these? Is it supposed to be a tree caked in ice or is it glitched up?
Its an ice sculpture, an homage to the 1.0 floating egg ores and how theyâd look after you got fed up trying to harvest it all with mining laser
In all seriousness, not a clue.
The look is kind of like a growth in a tree.
Itâs honestly surprising (but welcome!) seeing this much behind-the-scenes communication from someone from HG haha. How long has it been since they switched entirely to emoji-speak?
I remember when I spoke to Iain Brown from HG over some concerns with our API Reverse Engineering of their servers, he was definitely a lot less keen to talk, although I guess those werenât exactly good circumstances to begin with
I get great âpub manâ energy off Iain Brown; great craic on the right day but maybe steer clear if he seems preoccupied XD
I already knew that the total device types and system configurations Hello Games has to cope with was large.
Itâs good to see this âin printâ so it can be referenced by folks who think change they want is âeasyâ and bugs should not exist.
My counter when the mission is highlighted, is stuck stating my personal count is 50 and countingâŚthis is not very helpful. How do I know if I have filled my daily quota?
Mines stuck that way too, also not getting connection to discovery services so canât see any bases etc.
I guess their systems canât cope with so many active players now all doing their part
50k
We could come close to Beyond numbers with this one on Sunday ;0; that was the last big Yearly style update if I recall (before switching to very regular and expedition sprinkled updates?)
Back in the late 1960s and early 1970s, nobody of the long-haired persuasion would have considered their life complete without a collection of Roger Dean posters.
These things sure have a familiar look about themâŚ
Wow. They are not worlds apart from NMS Worlds.
Indeed not. Instead of calling ârip-offâ, I think instead Iâll say âtributeâ or âinspirationâ.
Just like fashion. What is old is new again. Besides, you just canât beat the older sci-fi stuff.
What ever happened to our catalogue of treasures? I donât remember ever finding this before.
Didnât know you could see twitch viewer stats on steamDB.
Now Iâm wondering what big streamer plays NMS on a monday?
It used to be the case that every fourth or fifth warp jump I made, I landed in the middle of a space battle. It could be a useful source of freighters, if you were interested. If you werenât interested, it rapidly became a really annoying interruption to exploration.
In my latest save, I have made more than 50 warp jumps, and I have encountered precisely one space battle - the one that awarded me my free freighter. After that there have been no more battles. I canât honestly say I miss them, but Iâm curious: where have the space battles gone?
Mostly to high-conflict systems I think, but it would also be reasonable to assume that the encounter rate in the difficulty options affects this. I donât know for sure, though.
In any case, I mostly find them annoying. Oftentimes I donât want a free freighter, and the things keep spawning until you finally accept one. It can get on your nerves if youâre trying to roleplay.
Add to that that the pirates encountered are always a bunch of pushovers, which is also annoying. I usually play in survival, with the combat difficulty on max, though the encounter rate maybe reduced a bit. Not because Iâm that great of a fighter, but because narratively I want combat to either be something I specialize in or that I have to run away from. And since the changes to combat difficulty, I actually have to run in the early- to midgame unless I specifically prioritize self-defense, and I like the tension that comes from that.
But whenever I encounter a freighter battle, I just know that I can pick off all these pirates almost with impunity without even a single upgrade to weapons or shields. It just feels very off.
