I decided on an email I’d sent that year to HG, when my girlfriend at the time had secretly pre-ordered me the Limited Edition in March, but I feel like I just can’t get the formatting down at all! You just emailed SYSTEM and it applied it?
It’s the one line box that makes it hard. On PC is not much easier but mobile is a big no. At least on PC I can arrow left and right and correct mistakes before submitting.
I think I did it right this time, copying the format from an above post almost to a tee, but we’ll see
Archie let @BenR know, for those struggling with the single line entry for the form, that emailing System is okay, just put memory timestamp submission in the subject.
You can see the conversation and details on how to do so, here
slight correction for people who aren’t following the chain but, Archie mentioned that memory submissions should be emailed to System’s email address, not Archie’s ![]()
Ah, my mistake, corrected in the posts I mentioned this in, thanks bomberboi <3
Working through Glixel in the hopes to find the infamous 2016 Sean Murray interview where he talked about wanting to make an RPG with their proc gen tech, when they are finished with NMS.
On my search, stumbled upon this old and now lost interview, from June 7th 2016. Submitted to Memory Timestamp…

Main Text:
“Every other game that you’ve ever seen has been built painstakingly by artists by hand,” he explained. “But because the universe will have been generated, we won’t know what’s out there. So players will, in a very real way, report back and discover it themselves.”But there are a few restrictions against certain behavior baked into even seemingly limitless universes. For instance, over-mining of resources, too much destruction and attacks on freighters and shipping lines controlled by NPCs (non-player characters) attract the retribution of automated sentinels “put there by [an] ancient race to…maintain the Prime Directive.”
That kind of automation speaks to a need addressed before Murray got halfway through his demonstration: I leaned over and said, “Not to take a dim view of humanity, but I’m wondering at what level the genocide starts.”
Murray laughed. "I know that you want to build your own Death Star, but in the scope of a planet, you’re making tiny dents… People always ask, ‘Could I eradicate a whole species?’ And actually, on your own, that’s way harder than you would think. That is a grim couple of years for you, where you just shoot rodents non-stop.
“We never want you to be the kind of unassailable king of the universe,” he said, despite having declared himself a god in it at the outset. “Sci-fi for me has a certain kind of vulnerability”.
“There’s a beauty and optimism in it, but also a starkness, of being right on the edge of the frontier, the loneliness.”
This interview was expunged from the internet, a former website absorbed and deleted. Restoring it for you system, as a keeper of the TRACE.

Oh I remember this one. I remember him using the phrase “Space Dick” too! ![]()
I’m limited to mobile for a couple weeks so I emailed a submission just now for July 6, 2016. (I was able to add my submission from last night for 12/31/2016 directly to the tracker spreadsheet via PC but I can’t seem to comment on the spreadsheet on mobile to add this one.)
Taking a cue from the comments above, I added a non-NMS memory.. but it’s a strong 2016 memory for me ![]()

I found a preserved quote from the Glixel interview I was trying to find. It happens to be part of exactly what I was looking for. From August 4th.

Sean gave many interviews before release. Some of those are now lost to time as companies folded or absorbed their gaming off-shoots. An infamous interview, Sean discusses what he’d like to do for their next game, before NMS released…“Because the engine is built, it’s really good for making other types of games. Personally, I would love to make—I don’t know, this is really nerdy, but there are certain types of RPGs that I would love to make using this kind of technology. Like a very, very, very small RPG. But using the tech to generate a really interesting, organic world for it.”

Yea I think that’s a slight drawback of working with sheets on mobile, unfortunately, but dropping your submissions in here is just as appreciated if you can’t comment! I’ve added this one now!
Btw, the Human Readable Datetime column automatically converts timestamps to a readable date, you don’t need to convert and/or comment those on the sheet ![]()
Thanks. And just to verify, we’re targeting all 2016 dates that say “no/value”, and not just the handful of “no/value” 2016 dates that have an unverified tag, right?
One more for today.
April 7th 2016. The day I built my first PC. The very one I’m typing this from today
It chugs along and can’t really run the latest of latest of games (lacks AVX2 support) but it’s still a zippy little beast of a thing.

Title: Building a System -
Value: One to make Memories with -
Main Text: After years and years of always wanting one, I finally was in a position to afford building my very own PC. I wanted to have one ready in time for August so I could play on both console and PC. Ten years later, it’s still running. Same MOBO and CPU but the GPU got a little fawncier and the RAM, a little RAMier.

Yep! All no/value blocs in 2016 are fair game.
Although now that you mention it, has anyone tried submitting full memories for the Unverifieds? I’m curious if something sent to em will anchor, and whether or not that’d verify em ![]()
Top Post updated with clearer instructions on the active phase, which will be updated should any more interactions with The Architect take place.
Nothing verified so far today? I am hesitant to keep sending them in til we get some idea of which direction we need to head in for sure…
There was just the one early today with the very personal memory…
I can’t remember anything I would like to report from 2016…lol
Yea its been a surprisingly quiet day, with only two memory anchors. Archie’s been gone for almost 9 hours too. Everything’s stalled off on an odd note for now.
Nice one Sheral. Loved the conclusion, especially the Epilogue, thought it was a perfect note to end the story on <3
