What are your favorite star wars characters and why.
my favorite is mace windu because he is firm and strict but is still worthy of respect.
he also made lightsaber form 7 which is aggressive and fast while still not being considered sith.
and finally, he has a purple lightsaber which is really frickin cool.

All of the droids in the sandcrawler, as well as any other droids lying around in bits and pieces.

The Yoda from A New Hope has always been a favourite of mine.
The Zen like explanation of the Force, along with the comical way he assessed Luke & just allowed Luke to fumble until he found focus.
The scene where he pulled the X-wing out of the swamp & showed the capabilities of a quiet mind when embracing the Force.
There was a certain likeable softness to the character when it was puppeteered, that was lost in the CGI versions.
There’s a scene where he is talking to Luke (about the cave test I think) and he is absently poking at the ground with his cane which seemed so thoughtful and real.

I always like the Jawas, their mysterious eyes and their voices ‘Utini’ and the friendly way they waddle. They are just so believable as traders in the landscape, as is the portrayal of the bantha beasts and the sand people who are all convincingly shaped by the barren world of Tatooine. The first time in popular cinema history really, especially in the film A New Hope, aliens are depicted living real lives. Luke’s mum and dad are also just so well played, the direction like a documentary and emotionally moving. (I do love E.T too but that’s another topic!)

For me, other than Luke, both robots R2-D2 and C-3PO have always stood out to me, as well as Jar Jar, and of course Yoda. I have never really gotten into Star Wars all that much, for no reason at all.
I do have fond memories of my first time watching the movie in the early 80s at a very small local theater which no longer exists. I’d have a lot of catching up to do now. Will let you all know if that ever happens, I find it hard to keep up.

I certainly dont have the same fever for star wars as I did in my youth but Ahsoka and Obi Wan tv shows have been absolute highlights for me in the modern canon.
I also loved the Genndy Tartakovski animated series of Clone Wars from the 2000s. The new animated series for Maul Shadow Lords was also a fun little romp with a nice mix of practical sets scanned in using photogrammetry, gausian splats and matte paintings, mixed with CG animation for a gritty and loose painterly look.
Theres a lot to consume there, it took me a few years to find the time for Ahsoka but glad I got around to it eventually.
Obi wan was always my favourite as a kid. Notable mention to Qui Gonn, hup the irish
Ahsoka’s journey through clone wars 3d show (came a few years after Genndys 2d animated version) and Star Wars rebels has certainly made her my new favourite.
I also have a big ol boy crush on Laura Dern so I enjoyed seeing her chew the scenery in Rian Johnsons Star Wars sequel (hot take, My favourite of the new trilogy, i really enjoyed his choices, except for that casino b plot.)

Rex been there since clone wars, battle of geonosis, battle of endor… even in rebels still kicking bad guys.
Plus i learnt english thanks to CW with this clone. That’s my guy.
Then there’s comte Dooku, élégant, lucid about jedi driftings… General Grievous has good lines… and Maul is a good bad guy.
