I noticed that if I tapped the middle of that animation, it began pulsing in and outward. Interesting.

On your phone? It might be the hot air making contact with the touch screen 
(it interacts with computer mouse or touchscreen interaction, tends to pulse and gravitate towards it.)

Yeah … Swipe 2 type error. Edited to read “tapped” (yes, on phone). Tapping at an edge pulls the animation that way. Previously, I had not noticed any continued pulsing toward the center if I tapped there.
