Gondor calls for aid?
Too bad that ugly alien photobombed your shots.
This is the second planet I’ve gone to when I knew that things were likely pretty different.
Summary
The bluish wisps were swirling like an aurora.
The dust on the ground were sites of some kind of anomalous disturbance, and loose stone shards were being lifted into the air. I walked into one, thinking it might be a gravity “shower,” but I was evidently too heavy.
The stone formations were floating, and some apparently ruptured, emitting a column of light and rocky debris which drifted into the sky. Another factor I liked, space in the star system was mostly black.
This was the third weird planet.
The large white hollow things were some sort of mineral which was making a whoofing sound like a steam pipe. A few of the smaller things were some sort of organism, rolling around and living off of something on the surface, and the term predator was used, so I didn’t get too close. The floating pink things, I have no clue, they wouldn’t scan and I didn’t want to shoot them just to see what happened.
The tall lattice formations are plants.
Yes, I picked it up, and nine others.
These are 2 of what we have called ‘exotic’ planets. Each one has items you can pick up and use as decoration at your base. They also have 1 fauna each ( Origins caused other fauna to show up on these but a patch has fixed that) These planets remain unchanged in Origins. However, the deco items are now found scattered on regular planets , which is nice. I think there are 7 of these types of planets (?) Ok 11 types, thanks @SingularGleam!
11 types of exotics
They’re sure exotic!
These are Biome Exotic worlds. The No Man’s Sky Wiki at Gamepedia is excellent.
The haunting music on “Beams” worlds seems very fitting for the ghostly swirls.
The mountains are steep
And I’m just a tiny speck
The valleys are deep
And I think about life
About what it all means
About how there is love
And yet there is evil
Volcanos are cool. I also like how the treetops “glow” …
The branches gave a bit of a spooky Halloween look…
An overhead shot on a nearby airless moon showed a “clusters” look to Dihydrogen that I had not noticed before …
I like to stand on top of Trading Posts to watch ships fly in and out, when environmental conditions permit. And I was last night, on a “desolate” planet named New Open of all things, when a loud rumble sounded, and something big ran into me, knocking me off the roof of the structure. Fortunately I have lots of health and shielding. I looked up to catch a glimpse of the ship that flew into me, and I was stunned to see this:
Summary
A sandworm knocked me off the building! It disappeared too fast to grab more than that. Besides, I was understandably shaken for a moment. That was a scary first encounter!
I also got curious when ships began forming up in groups and flying in one direction, so I followed one of them. An Exotic was leading a pair, and it looked almost like they left a slot open for me to make a four ship squad.
They ended up just going to a space lane point and flew into space.
FYI, a group of fighters/similar is called a “flight.”
Squads are of ground-pounders!
I was at a space station yesterday and happened to see (scan) a great NPC fighter with super slots. As I ran toward it, it took off.
They’ve been doing that since launch, actually. I’m still waiting for HG to actually make something out of that mechanics-wise…
