Weak Memories never last

I’m a solo developer at RecallDreams, and I’m currently working on my second major project:
Echoes of the Threshold
A narrative puzzle game about exploring your own memories to escape a life-sized, ever-shifting maze. You wake up inside an immense, labyrinthine building that feels both deeply familiar and completely alien. Every corridor, every room, every staircase is a fragment of a memory, some comforting, some painful, some distorted. Nothing is quite right. The architecture bends and rearranges itself according to what you remember… and what you’ve tried to forget. Your only way out is to reassemble your own past.
By interacting with objects, reliving moments, solving symbolic puzzles, and choosing which memories to preserve or let fade, you slowly uncover the truth of how you ended up trapped here. Every path is a potential clue.
Every memory is both a key and a cage. “Echoes of the Threshold” is a slow, atmospheric, and deeply personal experience about memory, identity, and what it truly means to find your way home. Currently developed by one person.
One building.
One mind.
More to come soon.
Echoes of the Threshold
A solo-developed puzzle game where you must navigate a life-sized maze built from your own memories.
Every corridor holds a piece of your past.
Every choice shapes what remains.

Being a solo dev
Vision is clear, but dev time is limited.
My dev routine
7 days a week, in my spare time, I’ve been working on Echoes of the Threshold since early 2024, as a chilling project I started on my birthday.
Slowly, patiently, and with way too much tea.
Daytime job
After completing my Licence in Philosophy, I became a university professor.
Teaching gave me a deep understanding of how the human mind works, something that now deeply influences my game development.
Not really “solo”
Schrödinger, my black cat dev partner, supervises every line of code, tests the comfort of my keyboard, and reminds me that some memories are best contemplated with a warm presence nearby.
What if you were the game?
You don’t play Echoes of the Threshold.
You wake up inside it.
The core concept
“You don’t play the game. The game plays you.”
Every wall is built from your own memories. Every corridor shifts as you remember or forget.
A deeply personal experience that asks the question:
“What makes a memory worth keeping?”
Unique Gameplay
A philosophical puzzle game where your memory is both the tool and the puzzle.
- Your way of remembering literally reshapes the level around you.
- No traditional inventory, no map, no combat.
- You must reassemble fragmented memories to change the architecture of the building.
Human & Authentic Touch
A deeply intimate game created by one person.
Made after long days at my daytime job, fuelled by endless cups of tea and the company of my cat Schrödinger.
No big studio. Just one man’s obsession with memory, identity, and what remains when everything else fades.

At RecallDreams, ideas don’t only emerge in front of a screen: they also appear through a gentle purr, a quiet presence, or a curious gaze watching over my work. Schrödinger, my cat and my companion through every step of the journey, has been part of the creation of Echoes of the Threshold, bringing a personality as mysterious as it is endearing.
It seems to exist in several worlds at once: the world of peaceful contemplation, the world of endless curiosity, and perhaps even the one where the best ideas appear when I least expect them.
Between development sessions and philosophical reflections, Schrödinger has become a familiar presence in my creative process. It reminds me every day that a little curiosity, a touch of mystery, and a sense of poetry are essential ingredients for bringing imaginary worlds to life.

The idea came to me while reading my favourite book from university published in 1933, yet so relevant today!
I wanted to explore the concept of a labyrinth that shifts based on the player’s choices. Having long been fascinated by the theme of memory and the traces we leave behind, using the player’s own memories as a core gameplay mechanic felt like the natural choice.
My goal is to confront the player with a dilemma: hold on to a significant memory, thereby complicating the path to the exit or let it go and move forward.
