They are stealing food?
Are there areas with food shortages over there?

Most staples are gone from the shelves. Most jobs have sent majority of workers home. The unemployment filing is painfully long. Sadly, there is a segment of the population who refuse to file for help because they fear giving their information to anyone. Likely running from the law for various reasons. There is not so much a shortage as there is a very long delay in items getting to the shelves.
WalMart started a senior hour from 6-7 am on Tuesdays only…stupid idea. Let’s make all the feeble show up at once and give them a mere hour to hurry through a shopping trip in a huge crowd of people, many of whom can barely walk at a snails crawl…I heard a nearby WalMart had seniors pushing and shoving and using canes as weapons…so sad.
So it is getting stupid here. I have driven to my mom’s twice. I told her to keep her doors locked. She has a couple of good neighbors so I am not too worried.
I have 0 $$ coming in at the moment. I can hold out but many people here are broke after week 1. This is going to get ugly.

I want to add one thing. Normally, I would see a couple of state troopers and a couple of local police between here and town and my mom’s. The last 2 trips, no one. No law enforcement of any kind. I am not sure where they have gone or why they are gone but, it is not a good feeling. Perhaps they believe their prescence would increase the anxiety, but I disagree. If they were parked in their normal speed trap places, it would add a sense of normalcy…

Here, we’re looking at eventually (when we are getting low) using grocery chain pickup services (order online). You make a time appointment for pickup – about a 2-day wait. Even bigger restaurants are doing no-touch curbside pickups. People come out in HazMat style protective gear, all staff using gloves, etc. You present at window proper ID, pop your trunk, and they load in the bag(s).

Yes. That is what I am doing but most people are still going in.
I order and pick up for my mom then drop it at her door.

I don’t know about all of you but, I have not talked (as in actually dialing a number and talking) on the phone this much since I was a teenager with a crush on that cool rebel guy in art class. ( He is now the leader of a satanic cult. Dodged a bullet there)

Yes. Thankfully to the north of me. Weather is calm now however, it has been cloudy and rainy for most of the last two weeks. Temps swinging from cold to unseasonably warm. Now we have just been told that social distancing will continue through the end of April. This is tornado season here so I am hoping for no more bad storms.

New estimates 100,000 to 200,000 will die. The deadly price of action taken too late.

As far as I understand it, those are worst case estimates, not probable ones?

That is if the cases continue at their present rate. Which is why a shutdown of the entire country is needed. It is the only way to slow this down.
