@Ekimo1920’s web post makes much of the ARG creator writing natively in French, and assigns a probable location as somewhere in North Africa - Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia etc.
But Alice and Smith, the creators of Waking Titan, are French-speaking Canadians, based in Montreal.
Rather than North Africa, I suspect pursuing a Canadian location might be more fruitful.
I imagine it will unfold wherever there are NMS groups - and I don’t know where most of them are hosted.
I know there are groups on Discord, Steam, Facebook and Reddit. Then there’s ours, which is privately hosted - but there are dozens of others.
If we are not the central hub, then they will likely all discuss things within their own structures - which means they (and we) won’t know what others have discovered.
I suppose word will get round eventually, but it will make the kind of dynamic Waking Titan had completely impossible.
(edit) I suppose The Architect could force the issue to some degree, by regularly releasing vital information here, and only here.
Ekimo is a big dweeb, that’s the long and short of it. But a powerful dweeb.
Good thinking on the french canadian thing, I think the 112 being the french emergency number had them leaning that way but it is an incomplete string of anomalous numbers/mistakes so might be acting as a red herring.
It’s time for someone else to lead A&S into its next evolution. Someone ready to champion its ISV ambitions, while I step back toward what I love most: storytelling, ideation, and worldbuilding.
Maybe its Bob? The intern? They’ve been biding their time, working on their villain origin story, and now they are surfacing. I did wonder sometimes how those guys at A&S or the actors playing the characters in WT fared over the lockdown and if they are still actively getting work in that field.
I remember hearing about their financial issues during lockdown too but for some reason I misremembered it as them closing their doors and thanking the ARG players/community for the memories.
I politely raised mods attention in r/nomansskythegame on the matter of Reddit’s auto-ban of our new fellow et_@ARC_ian by messaging them. Time will tell.
Firstly, it’s possible they were banned because their post included genuinely malicious content. Our attention was first drawn to the Architect because their first post here was shut down, and their account suspended, faster that any we’ve ever seen. That’s what made us look in the first place.
The second possibility (IMHO, far more likely) is that the Architect deliberately structured their posts, or otherwise manipulated site security, to engineer bans and/or suspensions - to draw attention.
It’s telling in this respect that despite the supposed bans and suspension. the posted material is still available. If you were building a narrative of a trapped AI (Emily?) trying to break through levels of system security and reach us, that’s exactly the kind of background you’d want.
There is a third possiblity - that the Architect is an inept programmer, doesn’t understand how the internet works, and has failed to test their own product before release. Having seen some of their work, I find this unlikely.
On balance, I think if the Architect was banned (or made it look as if they were banned), that’s the way they intended it to happen.
I found something new in the Project Skyscraper site - at least its new to me.
It only appeared when I clicked through the diary entries in a certain way.
It appears to be a quote from the American Modernist poet, Wallace Stevens
memory bloc 1113384720: Sunday Morning
Blue birds are invisible on the blue sky,
They vanish in silence where secrets lie.
No wing, no shadow, no trace in the light,
They are the unseen that watches the night.
The man in the picture is definitely Wallace Stevens, and he did write a poem entitled “Sunday Morning” - but the lines quoted are not from that poem. In fact, I’ve been unable to find a source for the poem anywhere - I hope it’s not AI slop.
I tried obvious tricks like colour separation on the landscape picture, without success. The picture is oddly distorted - there’s the suggestion of a seated skeleton in the botton right-hand corner.
Ekimo told me to pass on his regards for finding something he missed, pats on the back, high fives all around. Those are my words, not his, but I feel this is the general sentiment he wanted to extend. Guess Im the middle man until hes unsilenced.
Dont worry Im sure they will, they mocked that page up and had it up within an hour the same day we were all set to go on a live podcast taping. Theyre also juggling several other nms related websites, knowing them and how they operate theyll probably have a page or section involving a timeline and the groups involved with uncovering/discovering.
Hes also aware of how we tend to be hermits at the best of times and probably didnt eant to overstep boundaries without making sure it was okay to do so first.
This was not there yesterday. From the main list of logs, click the oldest, then click previous which takes you to an entry not in the list dating from origin (1/1/1970). Click next, then on the following page click previous and the new page popped up. I did this yesterday and the above page did not show up. which makes sense, today is sunday.
The thing in the bottom right corner looks like a sitting figure made of sticks, seems to be half visible (like it was a long exposure and the subject moved away). Very strange.
Maybe its a monument/art-piece and this is a picture of a park?
