Notice the ship top left and top right.

Omega Horizon - Alpha Vector

Atlas entrance is lowered, isn’t it normally higher up? No, that’s the normal position in current versions.

Something warping in bottom right. Notice the warp lines, like when a frigate or freighter warps in.

Original Traveler above an Atlantid and Anomoly race, more info below.

No telemon on Atlantid.

3 ship squad upper right corner.

3 hexagon outlines, hinting at being Worlds Part 3 perhaps? Didn’t they tell is there’s 4 “worlds” at some point?

Sean’s message posted to Blue Bird, not Blue Sky:

Hello!

I feel surprisingly emotional today. Ten years ago, on 9th August 2016, travellers across the universe set foot on their first alien planet in No Man’s Sky.

Perhaps you were there ten years ago, or maybe you joined later. It’s very cool to me that all around the universe, other Travellers have woken up on countless other planets, light years apart from each other. They took their first steps on their first planet and brought a new unexplored universe into existence together.

Since then millions of players have made No Man’s Sky their home, created insane bases, built communities, made friends, and built really creative custom ships.

For any game to reach its ten-year milestone is impressive and I think that is especially true for No Man’s Sky. It’s really a testament to the passion of the team here and of the players for the game, that this year we’ve seen our highest player numbers since launch, and won a TGA and BAFTA for best evolving game.

Over the last decade, the No Man’s Sky players have joined us in another type of journey as we grew, expanded and deepened what No Man’s Sky could be. With now 40 major updates, all free, we have expanded our sandbox universe with base-building, exocraft, settlements, mechs, pets, living ships, expeditions and rebuilt the universe several times over. Support for Switch, XBox, VR, PSVR, Switch 2, PS5, XBX and more has been added along the way. In fact No Man’s Sky is supported on about as many platforms as there are team members!

It became a bit of a meme at the time, me holding up the gold master disc of No Man’s Sky but I’m proud to say that most of the people in that photo are still at Hello. The No Man’s Sky team has evolved over that period of course, but it is not really that much bigger.

Since then tens of millions of Travellers have spent hundreds of millions of hours exploring and sharing their discoveries and the universe is more vibrant now than it ever has been. Voyagers released last year saw more players than we’ve had since launch… and still, all these years later players have explored less than 1% of the planets in No Man’s Sky.

In a similar way our small team feels we have a lot left to explore in what No Man’s Sky can be. In the background we are busy cooking on our next game Light No Fire, and big things for the future of No Man’s Sky, with the tease of our upcoming update titled “COSMOS”. More will follow!

I consider myself exceedingly lucky to work with the people I do, on a game I love with one of the nicest communities in video games. If you’re reading this, then it is because you have shown us a kindness over that period. Big or small that helps Hello Games do what we do. For that I am truly grateful.

Thank you so much,

Sean

Somthething that’s been bugging me, doesn’t the overall composition/weight seem a bit skewed or lopsided? They’ve put the Atlas, something that I’m pretty sure has ALWAYS been in the very center of any art, off to the side. Then there’s also the closes’t ship and it’s trail taking up more of the frame.

Meanwhile, on the right, it just feels empty. We have the same small ship that’s been more background flare than anything along with a distant planet and the very distant frigate fleet that’s been around since NEXT. Very empty.

We have the lines in the back of the atlas diamond and circles with ‘planets’ on them, HG’s been using versions of this a lot lately. (since voyagers I think) It’s faintly on the Journeys vinyl, and on some of the cothing items as well. In the voyagers cover art, near the land, we see one of the concentric circle patterns on the lines of the atlas, in a near identical position. That’s likely not notable.

So why is the negative space on the right given so much focus? It seems as if somehting should be there to ballance everything out. Something important enough to rival the atlas… Would HG make a seperate version to share just to not spoil a focus of the update? They hid the final reward of expedition 2: Beachhead..

Anyways there’s my ramballings

That’s a really interesting observation on the right!

I was just starting to notice the red planet is also over to the left, not centered…

And the warp lines already on the right… Like a hint…

I think you’ve hit on something! :man_detective::magnifying_glass_tilted_left:

hmm, what do you mean by “warp lines”?

Something is coming, and the empty space you pointed out would be where it would go, wouldn’t it? :bullseye:

ah, that’s the point of my 3rd paragraph there. Pretty sure that’s just part of the pattern

If you tell me each update with that, I’ll tell you what was new.

Voyagers added corvettes and enhanced multiplayer tracking, for warping in a group on one ship.

That circle thing always means something with warping I think.

ah, I think the first one was Worlds part 1 and that shows what is was originally made to represent

New worlds in the rotation :+1:

Interesting though there are multiple dots in the circles around the planets… No planet has more than one moon at the present in game…

Dentro del juego te refieres? Si hay planetas con 2 lunas

 I honestly haven’t noticed two on one planet yet.

Interesting! I’m going to start taking notes when I play… How much haven’t I noticed yet? :man_shrugging::see_no_evil_monkey::man_facepalming:

Agree. I at first also keyed on the “orbit lines” with larger dots spaced along them. Then I found them in prior release covers too. Not necessarily a clue.

See what happens when we have too much pre-launch rumination time? :joy:

I too noticed the off-balance “white space” (relatively empty area). I am focusing on areas that appear unique: the “on fire” Atlas station, the dark red planet, the glint in the initial “C” of cosmos.

I also am curious about the roughly circular “blotch” on the plant at lower right. It might be the shadow of something we’ll see in the final release, though I have low confidence in that.

A mind is a terrible thing to let think… :joy:

This’ll be my first time getting to speculate like this, and I’m loving it.

Definitely something missing/sign of something to come. We all agree the composition is askew. :100:

Super thankful to have y’all to bounce ideas off of… Best part of having an awesome game is people to chat to about it.:handshake:

Lots of imagery and crimson reinforcement…

Atlas does crash before the end… But I seriously thought it was much earlier… :man_shrugging:

I’ve seen some theories comparing the glint to the sun’s corona during a solar eclipse, something which (afaik) isn’t currently possible in NMS, sooo… maybe hinting at planets and moons that actually orbit around the sun(s)? :person_shrugging:

I used to think they would never put that game mechanic in. Then they gave us the ability to tag planets…

Early (pre-release) versions of the game did have true orbits and planetary rotation. They were removed because play testers found them too confusing. I wouldn’t expect to see them return.
