While the argument and the decision are ‘perfectly reasonable’ given US law regarding competition and monopolization, US law regarding competition and monopolization is so ridiculous that nothing associated with them should ever be considered reasonable.

I shouldn’t worry too much about it. We’ve had automatic numberplate recognition and computerised vehicle logging here since the 1990s (smaller country, denser population) - without a huge increase in the nummber of investigators, it just results in the authorities suffering information overload. As things stand, the police don’t even have the resources to keep track of known terrorists. If your house is burgled, the police may not even visit. Shoplifters are operating with impunity. We will never have enough enforcers to chase after people with curious travel patterns.

Old hat. Security cameras are one of the foremost points of vulnerability in security systems.
Usually they don’t get hacked to get at the video data, that’s throuroughly uninteresting to almost anybody. No, they either get hacked to get access to a company network if your network is that sloppyly set up that it allows routing in from the subnet you have your cameras on, or otherwise to be coopted in DDOS attacks against completely unrelated targets.

Back when they first started using the cameras for speeding, I knew a guy who received a picture of his car with the speed, date and time stamped on it along with the price for the speeding ticket
He wrote out the check, took a picture of it and mailed the pic to them

I’m probably remembering the details wrong but as usual, nothing ever came of it, they still carry on like they know what they’re talking about and their followers are too parasocial to want to even care or understand the difference.
Probably got some of those details wrong but I think broadcasting standards and regulations are gonna have to come in to play eventually.
For example, plenty of jobs you cannot work unless you complete some training. Be it health and safety or fire safety etc etc etc.
I think before any of these platforms can monetise you, they should require you to sit a course to get a standards in broadcasting license.
Especially, like I actually can’t believe it’s even allowed to happen, but especially if you are live streaming primarily to kids.
You cannot perform a live show for kids in the wild, you cannot preempt what might happen or who might come up on camera, or what they’ll say or do. It’s why live children’s programming is always done in a heavily controlled environment.
Probably never going to happen but I can only hope some day it does.
The internet is a massive experiment we weren’t prepared for and it certainly rips up the text books on a lot of things that came before. There’s far more bad faith actors in the ecosystem now for sure.

Yeah, but that was back in the day when Bill Gates believed that “640k should be enough memory for anyone” There was a time when 1 Meg was more memory than any microprocessor could physically address - so installing more was pointless.

Though, the term, lust for power, is one commonly used. But this is speaking of prosecuting drug dealers….however, we are dealing with leaders who crave power above everything else…so maybe they do lust for exercising that power.

Donald Trump only goes after the scary straw men in your head. Dehumanized immigrants, evil scary drug dealers, violent rape gangs and roving packs of people eating cats and dogs or gasp dirty illegals.
