New emoji speculations

So, what do you think the :wilted_flower: emoji from yesterday means?

I think it means “decay”
multitools and spaceships are going to require repairs, weeee

Or the travellers will start aging.

After the garbage collection, NMS will invite the players to the green areas maintenance.

For each garbage collected, a tree will be replanted on a “terraformation disaster” type planet

In my humble opinion: seasons, climates, or ecology. Perhaps the mission will be to save an ecosystem from an invasion of parasites, or to recover one following a climate catastrophe. Maybe terraforming hostile planets.

With a flower that droops like that, it can mean only one thing

I think it’s the big Droopy update the Dataminers have been finding code for for years!!

No Mans Sky X Droopy!

In truth I haven’t given it much more thought since yesterdays initial musings.

Only two more sleeps and an exciting wednesday morning of pressing refresh until we find out! That’s nothing!

Wilting Rose is a horror-thriller movie.

That may be closer to the mark if this is a Halloween oriented update.

There’s a famous game that already features withering roses and a creature called The Wither
both introduced in a Halloween update.

Who’s up for a crossover?

I saw Mr. Zine @TomAcreon mention “The Withered” and I thought that fit pretty nicely too.

As for the content

A super out there, highly unlikely tie-in could be introducing seasons to planets?

I imagine that would give players another reason to really stick around longer to explore the variety of flora/fauna that come and go with each passing season (maybe a season lasts 90 in-game days).

We getting No Star Man’s Dew Valley Sky?

Whatever it is

Haven’t HG referred to expeditions as seasons? Maybe we’re finally getting regularly scheduled expedition reruns

Reflecting on the dying rose emoji and considering the time of year, the new update might have something to do with the veneration of the dead. This could involve new “temples of remembrance” for various species—or structures with similar functions—the ability to build such a site using specific constructible elements, or perhaps the option to create a “talking grave,” much like the one belonging to a Traveler. Or, it could be something like Artemis’s holographic projection, serving as a memorial for a lost loved one. Mourning and the veneration of the dead—seen in traditions like Día de los Muertos, Is Animeddas in Sardinia, or Halloween—are ways for civilizations to remember and find meaning in death. Perhaps handled in a way that isn’t overly somber.

Can’t be an expedition, though, right? The old one hasn’t finished. I still need to get the last milestone done

I believe we are expecting an expedition on Wednesday so you better get a move on! Kick it into high gear!

And @kyle-culver gives the best guess

Maybe instead of “wither” its “wuther” like “Wuthering Heights”

Or maybe its about the pedals, maybe “Peddlers”. Be able to sell goods from ships?

As in, Titan awakes :face_with_bags_under_eyes:, Titan arose :wilted_flower: / :rose: from his bed
? What will be part 3 of the trilogy, Titan Yawns?

I’m also expecting something halloweenish.

(Some sort of Terraforming would be fun, too, I like that in other games as well, it makes progress visible. But not sure how that meshes with proc gen. Unless the Expedition dimension has artificially dead planets, and we restore them to their healthy proc gen self.)

Was going to post something similar yesterday, but I had like 3 drafts for the forums going and didn’t end up posting anything.

Glad I’m not the only one who was thinking of this word. Not the same exact prediction as Kyle, but I do remember the first Waking Titan puzzle had the word ‘arose’ in it. It was a modified quote from the poem ‘Hyperion’ by Keats.

He arose, and on the stars
Lifted his curved lids, and kept them wide.

Expedition 23 finished with us going ‘to the stars’ for the last milestone.

Here is what I was playing with yesterday. Pretty sure I got the wording right. So if we are looking at the history and proper grammar:

Present Tense: Atlas Rises
Past Tense: Atlas Rose :wilted_flower:
Present Perfect: Atlas Has Risen

Dammit, will be home late today, gonna be tight
It’s really only that last one remaining, would be infuriating if I’d miss it just because I was sensible yesterday and sent myself to bed because I knew I would miss the ensuing 15 minutes or so if I tried to get it then
