If this is legit…
NMS Player count:
(if I put this in the wrong category please fix?)
I have no idea if it is legit however, I personally know at least 10 people who play NMS and are not involved in any online/social group. So I would not be surprised. Makes sense there would be many more.
I just waded my way through the article, and from the nature of the leak and the method used to derive player numbers I can see that they ought to be very precise.
However, it is important to realise what that number represents. It’s not current player count. It’s the total amount of players who played the game at least once. In the entire lifetime of the game. So this is by no means an indication of the size of the current playerbase (which would be ridiculous, as it would mean there are an average of 50 million people playing team fortress 2 on a regular basis…).
… From the moment achievements of use to calculate those values, were implemented.
I can verify this being legit, as I have seen the values used in the API from which the results have been calculated
Ooops, thanks for the correction. In my defense, in the case of NMS, I think that is its entire lifetime
Yes, you are indeed correct, as NMS came with the achievements when first launched on Steam
Well, NMS isn’t in the top 100, but it is in the upper half of the list.
About to go a lot higher, I suspect.
1.4M just for steam isn’t so bad. In adding GoG, PS4 it’s a good score for a non RPG, FPS or H&S game.
