So glad I donât live there but still, so close I really should go. Even if it blows up, it will be a good show.
âSpaceX will conduct Space Test Activitiesâ is a sentence that I expect to hear in some camp old scifi b-movie, not from an official notificationâŠ
I envy you being âcloseâ. All I got is live feeds on YouTube. I am sure there will be better âshowsâ than Starship static fire testing, but it must be impressive regardless. I wonder how close you can get to a test like this (road and beach closure).
Looks to be about ready ⊠Estimate 1:40 pm CST
This is really dang close
You actually have to go thru border customs when you leave here
Just a couple of images from NASASpaceFlight YT Live with Commentary
Notice that blimp/airship in the 2nd image. That might have a great view?
Not sure but that blimp may actually belong to border patrol.
Oh wow, and now Booster time too?!
Did I miss it? My brother had an emergency surgery. Spent the morning at the hospital. All is fine.
For those who like detail
I love that they have a barge named âjust read the instructionsâ
Not sure you missed anything. No clue what the title is referring to, unless I missed it too?
I believe there will be another booster static fire attempt today, considering last nightâs failure and de-tanking after.
Update:
Apparently there is no overpressure notice released for today, so no closures currently (close to 14:00 UTC). Although this could happen on short notice, it now seems unlikely for a static fire today.
That would be their first and third barge (JRTI I & II), both named the same, after one of the star ships in the sci-fi novel The Player of Games by Iain M. Banks. The same with their second barge âOf Course I Still Love Youâ (OCISLY). Not sure the fourth barge âA Shortfall Of Gravitasâ (ASOG) got its name from somewhere.
It seems an appropriate name for the occasions when the booster âfalls shortââŠ
Well ⊠I donât know anymore!
Will see if I catch it âŠ
I just canât get over that notification. It essentially boils down to âSpaceX will be doing space things, please leave in case thereâs a big bada-boomââŠ
I love the coy language. âOverpressure Eventâ = âBloody Big Explosionâ.
I was impressed by the part that suggested that your home was no longer safe.
I was more impressed by the section âas a minimum you must exit your home or structureâŠâ. Strongly suggesting that if youâre sitting watching TV with your family, and SpaceX blows you and your home to bits, itâs your fault.
I just wonder where safe isâŠit could blow out windowsâŠwell glass could fly in many directions. I assume sitting in your vehicle would also be unsafe. Do they get in a ditch and cover their heads?
Duck and cover
