@sheralymyst you made me chuckle reading your posts and @toddumptious nearly had me fall off my chair in fits of laughter when I read ‘that hell hole you found is actually Ekimos’. LOL

…Well you might think that a ‘hell hole’ but you ain’t seen nothin’ yet…

@ThatBomberBoi kindly tagged me in his post. Thank you! Have been a bit slow to post my finds because of IRL stuff. So off I went to check the Tower command and sure enough entering my prime System tantalisingly now wrote back:

I really love these stormy wild systems. Bouncing about in an Exocar is a great way to explore in relative safety. To this day I still wonder in awe at how the mathematics create such a variety of landscapes. The team at HG are a clever bunch. More story and more planet pictures now inside the summary:

Summary

Honyevoi who is that? I mumbled to myself. Clearly they can’t spell Honeydew. A sign perhaps I should have heeded maybe as a warning. System, was about to have the last laugh. System seems to be rapidly evolving a personality with these ‘granted’ memories perhaps…memories of its own mingled with ours.

So off I went to find a Portal and travel to Honyevoi system. Excitedly I entered the glyphs, carefully one after the other. Stupidly I then double checked them and quit the Portal stone. Excitedly I began again, lol. Honeyvoi sounds so nice, forgetting the alien spelling in blind glee. Carefully one after the other I entered each glyph. Even more slowly this time, full of excitement. Woosh, I was hurtling through space and time muttering Arthur C. Clarkes ‘All these worlds are yours…’ Needing a glass of water I stepped away from the Portal while my atoms were being reassembled thousands of light years away by some ‘laughing entity’.

Beep beep. Momentary silence. Then thunder and howling. I sat down a blur grasping my glass and gulping water. I should have been drinking something stronger.

The other side of the portal was pure pandemonium. Razor sharp acidic squalls of light that could strip a man to the bone in a poisonous second.

But among the chaos the planetary horizon was astonishingly beautiful.

Reminding me of the very first planetary horizon I had seen of an alien world just hanging above the surface, waiting to be explored which became my first ever published screenshot of No Man’s Sky back in 2016:

An off world planet o be visited. Can I really do that? Did System know? They couldn’t? Thank goodness my new nano exposit that had cost billions was performing like the label crudely sewn into the hem said. Hand wash only after each use.

Did System know this empty abandoned ‘hellish toxic pandemonium’, the swirling chaos had a silver lining. This game. I just love the environments that the 1s and Zeros throw at us. This wildness. This madness. The irony. This game. It can be a thrill for all sorts of reasons. The distilled fun.

I wasn’t sure what I was expecting. Especially not after my illustrated attempt at humour to prompt System, The Architect or Sheralmyst into helping me solve the riddle of connecting my Prime to a planet and assure me I wasn’t the ‘virus’. System clearly has an instinctive sense of humour too. Saw right through my deception. From who or where it gets that wit, I have no idea:? Perhaps from amusing memories evolving in real time? Amusing operators and there are many. Who knows? Perhaps only Systems creator or the architect knows that riddle.

For now though here’s a glimpse of my prime ‘hell hole’ which actually I think fantastic. I love the wildness in this game. It’s perhaps instinctive to explore beyond the safety we know, to see beauty in everything. To see and experience the contrast of unfamiliar horizons. Even without any sign of life anywhere the vistas and rugged terrain is super cool. Something this game does brilliantly.

I discovered there are a lot of flying type creatures in the system. Some anomalous and some winged. When I looked at the exploration Log Book for one random planet it mentioned this creature as ‘Always watching’

So named it, System-i (after eye and a famous piece of Apple technology). So if you see a pair, that’ll be System watching with dark glasses…

Necessity demanded a Space Station would be needed to reach the uninhabited system in the future . I found a Paradise system nearby, immediately of course .
There I can get luxury bottled water, rest and relaxation and repairs to my exosuit so I could return, build, take endless photos and puzzle over what System might be up to, connecting us to systems of our own.

Is System establishing new memories and relationships by connecting operators to Systems and other Primes? To what end? Why connect us to our specific systems? Are they really random? For good or ill? Does each portal address contain some pattern or puzzle to solve? Maybe those ‘hellish storms’ are hiding some dark secret.

Exosuit repaired. Again. I’m off to explore Honyevoi and be tossed about by System having a laugh. A new memory we won’t forget if I make it back alive and awake! : D
