Getting a laugh out of life

When they look and sound like Bicentenial Man, I’ll buy in. Ultimately I just want to hang out with Robin Williams soothing, comforting and encouraging voice.

OMG! I was trying to remember the name of that movie earlier. My daughter has never seen it.

We were naming all the games and movies we could think of on the subject.

He’s also in Artificial Intelligence as a brief voice over since you’re on the subject. I imagine A.I came up pretty quickly already. Especially with all that Jude Law it has on offer <3

It’s funny - we all know how reproduction and birth works, but it never stops being astonishing.

Good job, they look properly bird shaped! Did you paint them pink, blue, and yellow, or is that already their natural feather color? If you feed them carrots, do they turn orange?

I was hoping for multi colored but it looks like they will be just like Mom or dad.

This adblocker actively messes with advertising agencies by clicking through on all the ads in the background giving them engagement statistics but with zero purchase etc connected to the clickthrough :+1:

I had only just installed ublock recently, will be switching to adnauseam asap

I have to wonder how many ads get clicked by accident every day anyway. Certainly happens with me.

On the one hand, I say cool. On the other, there are actually some ads for some really cool stuff. Maybe not something I need personally but, I feel bad for those who put talent and effort into making a product that is actually good and then getting feedback that wrongly suggests no one wants their product.

On the other hand, making my page a flashing, seizure-inducing Las Vegas strip display, is not good either. I wonder how many people have had serious health conditions triggered by the visual noise they produce.

In the end, I don’t mind static ads that are off to one side or in between paragraphs.

It’s the ones that take up the whole page or one corner of it, blocking what I am reading, that really makes me mad. Ads should, in my opinion, never ever ever overlay what I am looking at and they should never ever flash and blare at me.

Eeenteresting. Would work when broadly applied.

In the short term, this plugin would get you tracked as being interested in everything. And your profile would get sold to every advertiser. And the hidden ads will include crazier and crazier things that all get added to your profile.

And longterm, if many users do that, this waters down the quality of ad target groups, because company X pays to advertise to “10k people who have clicked Y before”, but if only a fraction of them is truly interested, X pay full price but don’t get their ad in front of the “target group.”

Is that how it works?

The BBC is funded by viewer fees. It is non-commercial and non-political. Advertising is forbidden in its charter.

But the BBC makes a portion of its income from selling its shows abroad - and foreign broadcasters require the shows to be structured around advertising.

So, when you watch the BBC in the UK, there are no commercial adverts - but for many shows there are ad breaks every 15 minutes. The breaks get filled with trailers and previews of other BBC programmes.

How weird is that?
