Yes. Grannie’s hot chocolate also works great in coffee. And her syrup version is muy delicioso over ice cream.
Read an interesting article …
I checked. No Man’s Sky is not a listed universe.
If you’re interested in that topic I recommend reading Physics of the Impossible by Michio Kaku.
We always say „that scifi tech is impossible“ but he says, wellll, there are different types of impossible:
As long as it doesn’t contradict the laws of physics, we just haven’t found out how to do it yet. And in some cases we can’t get started researching a method because e.g. we’d need as much energy as a whole sun - but that’s just hard (and a problem for future us), not impossible! And then there are some impossible ideas that break the laws of physics, but we have been wrong about them before, so every time we discover something new we have to re-evaluate those impossibilities as well.
Just one example: Quantum Physics.
I’ going to search out that book, Physics of the Impossible by Michio Kaku. Thanks!
Once the realm of high fantasy, we now have respectable physicists suggesting that at the moment of the big bang, not only was the universe created, but all possible universes were created. And that includes universes in which the laws of physics may be very different from our own.
Truly mind-bending stuff.
This is truely mind-bending as well but…if I was alone with 2 houses and 100mil in the bank, I think I could move on with my life and leave the past behind.
The book in a nutshell, spiked
It’s not that easy if your past is actively refusing to let you go. And there’s no more tenacious past than a messed-up family…
I feel for people who remain trapped in negative thoughts. Though I have had my really painful moments that cut deep, eventually I moved past them. Just made me more cautious and choosy moving forward. I don’t want to sound cold but, why oh why would you air a family situation under the whole world’s nose? (for the reported $40mil for the story?) And it is good to remember, only one side of the issue is being spoken about. We will likely never be able to get a full view of the story and honestly, I don’t think we should. I would hope I would never run my family into the dirt and then say, I just want to reconcile…that is not how reconciliation happens.
I truely wish they could just embrace their new lives…but maybe this is his new life which would be really sad.
Maybe we should start a Life is Making Me Cry thread
Catharsis, I would imagine. I’m not saying that’s necessarily what it is, I don’t know anything about the guy. But if the picture he paints is accurate, I would probably react in a similar way. Just blow it up so hard that maybe, just maybe they’ll never talk to you again, and if not, at least be content in the knowledge that you got them back good, and that just maybe they’ll think about what they’re doing in the future instead of just hurting you as a matter of course because that’s just the way it’s always been.
It’s possible to bow out of the majority of royal limelight and responsibilities. Princess Anne has done a good job of it. She doesn’t court publicity or controversy, and, by and large, the media leave her alone.
The Royal Family have no money of their own. It’s OUR money. Taxpayer’s money. The land and titles they hold come from us. And whilst Queen Elizabeth, Prince Philip, and Charles have spent most of their adult lives trying to live up to their responsibilities, Harry has done nothing but whinge about what a raw deal he got.
If Harry doesn’t like the terms and conditions, we shouldn’t be offering him the job. Disinherit him from the succession, cut off his funding, and renounce his titles. If he wants to be Joe Public, then let him. But don’t give public money, high titles, and respect, to this crying brat.
Once you have a lot of money, money becomes meaningless and you realize that relationships with other humans are what really matters. Being abandoned by one’s entire family is the worst, no matter how much money a person has.
It totally is, though.
It’s even weirder being older than old people. I see reports of people being hospitalised with alzheimer’s, being admitted to care homes, and dying of cancer and heart disease. It’s awfully sobering to think some of them are 10 - 15 years younger than me.
“If I’d known I was going to live this long, I would have taken better care of myself”.
Is it coinky dink that this little impressed spot in my console makes an excellent ketchup/catsup holder when lined with some of the paper bag?
My first thought was “can’t that get very messy when you shift gears”, but then I remembered that Americans don’t shift gears…
Funny but scary. An 8mm by 6mm radioactive capsule fell off a truck along a 1400km trip and they had to find it…so glad they did but, how was the thing stored so badly it fell off in the first place?
Good question. Imagine some other car driving over it and it getting stuck in the tire
The ones they use in site radiography fall off with alarming regularity. They’re a small stainless steel capsule, brazed onto a length of coiled steel wire - the sort of thing we used to hang our curtains up with.
Over time, the brazed connection can crack, and when you wind the source out of its box, it just falls off. This is not good - with some sources, you can get a fatal gamma dose in a couple of minutes. If it’s being used in a bombing bay, this is not so serious, as there are radiation detectors and slam-shut doors. If, however, the work is being done outside (say, in an open yard, or on the deck of a ship) the source could roll anywhere.
I’m curious to know who was sufficiently dumb to get close enough to take that photograph.
