Games and Game-Related old and new

I almost fell in with the Protectorate thru dialog. Narrowly pulled myself back onto the path of commercialism and corporate ladder climbing

So far, I have 3 companions.

Edit: well, I am glad I am following the storyline. This is getting interesting. Because I was able to persuade Corbin to shut down the mechs 10 years ago and I scrubbed his demerits as promised, and I read his terminal which shows he still remembers the favor and is still considering how to return it, and because I “persuaded” the residents of Westport to move to Fairfield, including their leader Hogarth, I have now been pointed to Corbin as the one who can take down Montelli.

So maybe, just maybe, I won’t have to fight him. But then again, maybe I am just a pawn

You’re supposed to be Earth Directorate. Going corporste is just as bad as worshipping the Monarch.

I know. :joy:

Right now, I can’t seem to get across the gap to where the Vox is unless I can get poor Charlie to sacrifice himself. However, that doesn’t seem to be something he is willing to do anyway and I don’t want to either.

Rescued the deranged farm workers.

Having completed two-thirds of the quests on Paradise Island, I returned to my ship, only to be met by a messenger from the Order of The Ascendant - who told me he had arrived within four minutes of my landing.

I spent some considerable time exploring the landing pad area at the start. His claim is definitely not true of my game experience. He wasn’t there then.

I am left with two possibilities - One, it’s a bug, and he was supposed to meet me at the start, but due to programming error, he failed to do so, and;

Two, he’s been deliberately put there at the wrong time, as an example that The Order’s mathematical predictions are very unreliable (i.e. we should be cautious about following The Order, because they’ve clearly got it wrong).

Ideas?

Sounds like they just left out the part about how they also really needed to use the bathroom after arriving and it was a lengthy 20 min affair.

I guess that’s the next technical step in immersive Sims nobodies been willing to take.

Since the 90s we’ve had games with real timers and NPC’s with weekly routines and homes and jobs they come and go to. And a lot of games go out of their way to build bathrooms in expected locations.

Nobody’s taken it to the next logical conclusion, an intricate NPC bladder system.

Nothing says immersion like seeing orderly queues form outside public bathrooms.

Edit:

Though now I think about it, this is a mechanic in theme park, theme hospital, etc. but just barely. Sims, but not immersive Sims.

I mean, we already got horse bollocks, I’m sure it’s only a matter of time… :person_shrugging:

Hmmm….either one could be true in this game. Though, I have not encountered any bugs yet

The constant Auntie’s jingles and the purple ring around Charlie’s mouth has almost pulled me off course.

This morning I have been far too sick to even turn the game on. As soon as my electrolyte drinks arrive and I can chug down some more meds, I hope to improve. Massive headache has grounded me to the recliner since last night.

I’ve certainly not seen anyone at my landing pad. Been back several times and explored the area fairly thoroughly

I feel really sorry for you - it’s horrible to be so ill. I hope you’re feeling better soon.

Found my way across the bridge with minimal takedowns.

Overloaded the Vox with a power surge.

No idea what it did. Looking for someone in a cave right now.

A relatable situation for anyone, surely!

I think I am fairly happy with my choices in the first phase of this game.

I got everyone to leave Westport which turned out to be perfect because my hack skill was 1 point too short to send the Vox into space and I have no luck points so no idea what that choice leads to.

Of course, I am now an enemy of the Protectorate. You can’t win them all.

The courier showed up as I prepped to leave

Long ago I discovered X3. It was said to have not a ‘steep learning curve,’ but a learning cliff. I have now set out to play X4. It seems to have a ‘learning windshield.’ It’s like a cliff, but moving towards you with brain splattering velocity.

The people of Arcadia sure do love their board games.

And I have a new pet

Now I wonder how you’d describe the learning curve of Aurora 4X…

Past Obsidian and Bethesda games have used music from the 1920s to the 1940s for their radio soundtrack.

Outer Worlds 2 retains the same feel - but the songs are entirely original - written and performed for the game.
