Nintendo has a track record in overprotective assholery when it comes to their IPs, but so far they have not joined the “patented game mechanics” insanity. As long as there’s not TV network with “Fire” in their name, I think HG should be good this time
That game concept is by far not new. There’s many games to which it could apply to. LNF isn’t a copy of those, and this won’t be a copy of LNF either.
Breaking News, Amazon have announced the unveiling of their brand new TV network for digital and terrestrial broadcasting, Amazon FireSat
They said the idea came when their data scrapers came across an obscure fan forum comment just moments before the announcement which was flagged for “possible money on the table” .
Thanks to the power of AI, entire new business can materialise overnight without disturbing Maestor Bezos beauty cryo-sleep. It’s said to feature such hit programming as “appropriate material for the teen to young adult demographic” and “madlib organized buzzwords your pets are sure to recognise!”
At the end of their press release they stated the first order of business would be suing HG for trademark infringement
My dad and all his friends are in their 70a/80s. Every last one of them has an Amazon Firestick. And every last one of them is homebrewed with piracy apps for all networks/movies etc. They pay a “subscription fee” to what I assume is some random IT guy living in a suburb not so far away.
It’s funny because I don’t think they realise what is they actually have. THey’re from that era of “oh youre man down the road can get ya a good deal on Tires” so to them it’s just the same thing. He keeps thinking he has an amazon account and I have to remind him he doesn’t <3
Bless the aged ludite and tech averse crowd, the dotes <3
When the streams go down he always blames the weather making the signal bad (are you getting an idea of where my dads era of tech knowledge ends?) when in the back of my mind I’m thinking, “the hydra has lost a head”
It also kind of irks me because, my dad is paying some guy for what he thinks is a legitimate service, when really its just “piracy without the hassle”. In this instance I’d like to teach a man how to fish and show him how to pirate all of this for free with no middle man monthly charge but, I just dont trust my dad not to let Russian Hackers into his account if I do <3
I think we would’ve heard something by now if there was, so going to assume there isn’t a No Mans Sky Easter egg but damn if it wasn’t a candidate for one
Sponsering is when a company or person pays you or funds you for a various task or thing, this would be more “supporting” their fellow developers or paying homage by referencing them. NMS is not referenced in AstroBot I was only suggesting it’s a shame it never was considering it’s presence at Sony e3 Conferences and the darling it has become.
Not every studio, but most of the third parties reached out to, did request licensing and payment for trademark legality reasons etc, and the first party IPs were naturally fair game.
There are some more obscure references and nods to some popular nintendo platforms and iconic moments but naturally they fit in the homage section, and don’t cross over in to the “here look, its a frickin pikachu” territory.
One level for example, is littered with references to areas from Conkers Bad Fur Day for N64 (though microsoft technically own the IP to the character now, still a nintendo nod in my books.)
One of the nicer little touches in the game is Nathan Drake and Lara Croft can both inhabit the same space… Or well, little robots cosplaying as them can.
If you have them following you in your hoard of minions, and go idle, they seek eachother out and start having a conversation
It’s hard to talk about it without it all just sounding like fan service cash grab, it certainly could have went that way considering the industry sometimes, but there’s a solid game there, controls and locomotion is finely tuned and intuitive and the levels have an incredible pace and momentum to them.
I would say someone finally made a non-nintendo Mario game that also feels like I’m playing a 2D sonic game.
One of my favourite Genre’s is “Japanese Ameriboo does American things”.
Think Hideo Kojima, suda51 or swery65 (have we checked those lat two arent sock accounts of the same person? )
I clicked into this not knowing anything and assumed this had to be Swery.
Turns out, it’s a new sub genre of my favourite genre.
It’s the “Chinese studio, does weird japanese ameriboo, does american things.” genre
This is probably what some people who’ve fallen down the online conspiracy rabbit hole think the Great Replacement will look like (pssst, guys, history has proven this can’t happen and has been an unfounded fear for centuries, get over yourselves, in case you somehow stumbled in here on a google search)
Trying this chill little exploration game. I like the art style. No pressure. Lots of climbing and finding view spots. Tasks for the locals while searching for a way to find out if my sister is actually dead or still alive and in trouble.
Enjoying it so far. I have a wave of depression moving in on me I needed something like this.
So far the story is interesting and the game runs smoothly.
Came across this one a little while ago & have been tempted to give it a go.
Watched a short bit of a demo & I really like the artstyle; it’s similar to Dredge.
Was circling on Sand Witch and then decided to reign the expenditure in a bit and went with this one for 5 euro.
It’s actually a lot less stressful and more relaxing than other games of its ilk (apocalypse rogue likes cane be very unforgiving).
I’ve just been sticking to the same three local safe zone towns deivering basic supplies and just getting to know the locals and try not to piss off any factions.
When my body and brain return to normalcy I’ll delve further into the more stressful sides of the game, Maybe
Trying to play this game . I like it. It has some issues like not wanting to always work with my controller and the nice purple dress I splurged on, disappears when I run in a forward direction… so I go streaking thru the woods, at one with nature.
The game also just throws you into the map and says, Head south to the village or east to the cave and there are several caves. None actually to the East but more like N N E. Anyway, I am enjoying it and have not died, yet.
You know you’ve played too much mario64 when just looking at an image of bowser breathing fire makes your brain play the “ya ho ho hooooo!” burnt bum mario audio in your head.
I like how these two stories are somewhat connected. Microsoft are asking people to speedrun their AI’s integrity and security I wonder if Suigi’s skills are transferrable.
That game does look like a lot of fun, wishlisting it but I have a bit of survival game fatigue rn, been traipsing through Enshrouded with some friends and it gets very resource grindy.
My friend is building this very cool underground Mage Lair, we also just got instruments to jam with
A friend of mine made a custom map for No More Room in Hell… I was going to buy it just to try out the map but it turns out the game itself is Free To Play
We spent a lot of our teen years wondering where the best place in our village would be to defend ourselves during a zompocalypse.
The custom map is exactly this, it’s our home town infested with zombinis
You spawn in our local Tesco Express and then make your way down main street towards the football club hidden in the back of some suburbs. My friend lives across the road from there so I’m curious to see if they made their house a playable area
The top half of the village is completely fenced off so theres no chance of visiting my road,
