Question: I love that the Discovery Menu now informs you of the area where missing animals are found, but has anyone concluded what it means by Base? I am not going to have a base on every planet. Does it mean any structure on the planet or maybe the animals have a “base” ?

It means not in water or caves

We’re they swooping into the water by any chance?
Lately I’ve seen a lot of tiny flocks of birds swoop into the water and back up. I figure it’s just a pathfinding issue but it’s a nice accidental behaviour to witness. I keep expecting to see little fishies in their beaks.

Speaking of weird glitchy creature behaviour, has anyone had an issue with underwater crabs since beyond landed? Might be a console or PSVR thing but they either go flying through the ground when you try to scan them, or get whisked away topside and disappear into a hill or they just outright vanish. Usually on first encounter, second time you happen upon them on same planet they seem to behave normal.

I have seen birds in caves. It would have been awesome if they were bats.(and not stuck in the wall)

I have noticed one thing about butterflies. Like moths to a flame, they seem to gravitate to my line of fire when using my mining laser…they just fry right up. :sob:

Out of curiosity, do they walk backwards?

That would be amazing, but nope - just odd legs

Crownememium — The Diplo

I was searching for a crashed starship to repair and call my own, and what should I come upon but a lonely Gek needing help to repair his own stranded situation. He survived the crash. I thought to myself, “why don’t I help him”. And as I was doing so, I saw an amazing creature.

The Diplo was staring at us as I was repairing the starship.

As I spotted the Diplo, I thought I would go observe it. :eyes:

 Portal Address. Enjoy!

Standing near the Diplo, I realized how tall he was:

6.9m :sauropod:

Then I was continuing my search for more crashed starships

…and I came across more Diplos of the same breed

The above is the 2nd Diplo I’ve ever found. The first was much smaller and had a Cobra head. I didn’t think to get details then, but I did get a few images. These are from the NEXT v1.5 era…

I’m happy to have come across these majestic creatures along my journey. :sauropod:

Yesterday, I thought I would experience my first time with creature riding. It happen to be in the most extreme of environments. We rode through an intense blizzard and ran from hostile sentinels.
