I think the core might become permanent in the anomaly, anchoring the hive…or maybe weakening it…the trophy just be for in your base etc

If you look at the announce/patch page for The Swarm, there’s a short video showing the three different appearances the core will take, to reflect the permanent change that will happen to the Anomaly. They look very similar to these trophies.
I would say these trophies are probably participation trophies, each team will get their variant to commemorate their involvement. A consolation prize in a way.
If you scroll down to the “Construct The Core” section, you will see this video clip, as well as images of the variants too.
Theres also this interesting image in that same section, the coreicon.png, that looks like the new core, minus the swarm drone in the middle, but some sort of portal or, to paraphrase polo here, a “mirror” ?.

Paying closer attention to that clip myself, theres a part where it shows the new core, in a state of being half built. So perhaps we will see it grow as time goes on 
Maybe something will change when we hit 25%?

I was chatting to some folk in a VC earlier, and someone had mentioned that only the first 3 missions you do each day, count towards the expedition.
I.e, if you do 2 missions in the first batch, and then 8 hours later when the cooldown resets, do another 2, only 1 of those will count, and your next batch of 2 in another 8 hours do not count at all.
So if you do 3 missions in the first batch, none of the missions you do later will count.
They mentioned this was found/discovered via datamining.
Any truth to this?
Seems like it might be true, but also seems like something some Sage or Royals might make up to get an edge
