COSMOS Update Details

What does ADR mean?

I noticed the spoken recording and the video felt out of sync, it makes him look like a muppet that doesn’t move its lips when articulating, which is distracting. Likely just a workaround to rerecord the voice-over after the first audio recording did not meet quality standards.

PS: Found it:

ADR/post-sync/over-dubbing
Automated dialogue replacement (ADR) is the process of re-recording dialogue by the original actor (or a replacement actor) in a sound booth after the filming process to improve audio quality (for example, if the microphones from on-set picked up ambient noise such as strong wind or passing traffic) or make changes to the initially scripted dialog.

Game maps, especially space maps, are always symbolical and not showing real distances and sizes, in Elite:Dangerous they can also show the stars and their planets and moons, and it’s useful information, adding the star in the middle should not be difficult.

Took about 7 minutes and 50 seconds to get to the star. Each star was about 1 or 2 minutes apart.

Omg, this is blowing my mind. You gotta go visit a Lost Moon. You have to mine the comet fragments by hand.

Ohmmmm

My new favourite thing is seeing your ship icon move from its location to its destination on the new star system map while you boost

Fellow travellers… behold.

“My name is Ozymandias, king of kings:
Look on my works, ye Mighty, and despair!”
Nothing beside remains. Round the decay
Of that colossal wreck, boundless and bare
The lone and level sands stretch far away.

Somehow I feel like this is exactly the kind of expedition that ill-fated those freighters we encounter…

and a new problem
How to get stellar ice out of your engine…

Ngngngngng… need…bigger…door…

… Good enuff:

Hm. Why is there a radioactive sign on it? Ah, probably not so important.

Ditto. Planets and the asteroid belt are depicted as orbiting the space station. This is a Sci-Fi game, but that exceeds the bounds of nearly all science fiction.

If it’s “just a display” then omitting the circles which imply orbits and using random placement similar to the old Discoveries graphic would at least not be as scientifically aggravating.

Did you know the top surface of your corvette was magnetic? Some salvaged parts just stuck to the outside (in direction of artificial gravity) even while flying! I should have stuck the bigger pieces to the outside!

I already have problems with missions not completing. Not by the station master but from the outside terminal. I had some items in my inventory already and it sent me to fetch more. In one case, it resolved itself after lift-off, in the second case, even flying to the location and fetching the missing materials did not complete it.
I’ll experiment more tomorrow.

PS: I met William/guigui! We were not grouped and could not interact with each other’s salvage, otherwise I would have helped him.

Just know if you get sent for the Pathogen Sac, you must take the fantastic voyage to reach it.

And I just realized the tractor beam has a vent cargo button. This grabbed the ice stuck in my engine and deposited out onto the tarmac

I just flew towards the sun. Took about ten minutes of straight pulse engine to reach the new location. Had nice new music and abolutely makes for a nice location for a space base

Turns out you can build up to 16 of these bad boys. :face_with_peeking_eye:

I only built them as an example. I will not be adorning the First Spawn in Mainfam 23.

In that third image, do I see … :pizza: ?

@clem I see it as a ‘proximity to space station’ map for click & go simplicity & not supposed to represent the system in its full existence.

This will save my brain getting triggered by ‘reality’ :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Since the local simulation comes from these stations, it makes sense…

Wait… so station-less systems are the only real ones, right?

When you fly to the sun you go waaaaaay off the map.

I think some very entrepreneurial races decided it was just economically viable to build the space station equal distance from all planets in a system, so from its perspective it is the centre :stuck_out_tongue:

Don’t forget that reaching the sun is ultimately lethal…
