Someone was asking about Byte Beat music and how to copy it etc… Somehow, this thread never carried over from the previous categories.
This player has tons of excellent creations
A must-have if you own a diplo world

He has strange people in his playlist ![]()
I never tried to copy a song and play it on devices in my base. I think I only tried playing them from the menu.
(When this player sets the devices up you can hear the random cacophony when the devices are unconfigured.) ![]()
Do I understand that video correctly? You need to remember/know how many devices there were, which of them touch (which makes them share settings like key, rhythm, speed) or don’t touch (which makes them independent), and maybe some more steps, and only then you can copy and paste the notes into the devices on a world in a playable fashion, without cacophony…?
Is this missing info stored somewhere, e.g. in my game save, and just not shown in the GUI?
As I mentioned before, my ByteBeats stopped working after an update (a while ago). Wondering whether I can fix them. They weren’t playing anything special, famous, or intricate, but I’m curious how they work. (I wrote a guide on Steam when they were new, possibly the first.)
Estoy abierto a ideas ![]()
Let me suggest r/NMSByteBeatFans to you, the traveler with an interest in music making / sharing.
It’s a small community where we share our Bytebeat creations and give glyphs and coords to go get them for your library or devices.
There are a lot of creative and talented people, experienced or just starting, others who simply request covers… But everyone is nice and friendly ![]()
PS : Artisan does pop up over there sometimes, but he’s mostly active on YT !
Gracias le hechare un ojo ![]()
Do you mean a base for each song in the NMS soundtrack ?
If that’s the case it’s going to be a lot, so your idea of using a system close to the MAIN FAM one is probably for the best. You could also do one base in the MAIN FAM system and others in another, with some directions in the first (e.g. a message module with your system’s name) ?
In any case I’m no authority on how many bases you can or can’t build in the MAIN FAM system ![]()
Oh wow I didnt realise, what an honour to be included there ![]()
Did you all know Vectors Cmdr’s NMSE has a Bytebeats panel for importing/exporting them?
I remember having a distance problem but not for the same reasons. I have several bases with Bytebeat Devices on a planet for a project of mine. They always were close from each other but I had to move some. If they were less than ~1100-1200u apart I couldn’t select all of them in the base teleporter menu.
The devices worked fine though !

Talking of distance, 65Dos did a bytebeat song, where they used the fade in/out as you walked towards/away from it as part of the tune. I can’t find it now - it might have been on the YT channel, but if it was, it’s gone.
I like that idea. System should get it’s own song
Here is the Bytebeat song I created to play in the Portal Base ‘secret’ Vault on our NMS10 event planet.
NMS10 At Fault

Looks like it uses the Playlist library, which doesn’t quite get them from, or on your actual Bytebeat devices. Somewhat limited to get it to work correctly in-game in trying to copy from Bytebeats you find in bases, as Javtron is finding out.
