This thread is for discussion about if any device, old or new, can run No Man’s Sky.
I’ll start things off with the iPhone 15: it has been announced that it will be able to run some current gen AAA titles like Resident Evil Village, Resident Evil 4 Remake and Death Stranding, but can it run No Man’s Sky?
I would think if it can run games with that high of graphic quality it could, but it may be more a question of having enough memory to run NMS. I would think though that if they were able to make it work with the Nintendo Switch, it could work on iPhone 15, but it’s anybody’s guess if Hello Games will port the game to the mobile phone.
That would be a big NO Way.
My last PC had 16 GB of RAM and was struggling.
Of course, Switch has almost no RAM (4GB) but cannot run the whole game and runs what it can at incredibly low res.
NMS is really bad about heating up whatever you play it on. I just cannot see it going mobile however, I can somehow see HG saying, let’s see if we can, just because.
I have 32 GB RAM on my new PC and NMS runs fantastic.
There’s also the question of whether it has the necessary CPU capabilities. NMS is unusually heavy on the non-GPU computing for a game. Many grand-strategy titles like stellaris (or, god forbid, dwarf fortress) tend to be heavier than that in later stages of the game, so a good question would be how well it handles those…
The second option would be screencasting the game to the phone and sending the inputs back, but it actually runs on a server or local console, I’m sure I’ve seen that done already.
There is still NVidia’s GeForce Now cloud gaming. I ran NMS on an Android TV (shield) during the beta. It ran fine. I was supposed to get a steam key for the games I bought when the beta ended but that got lost in the mail (or maybe I have a steam account that I don’t know about with a couple of games just waiting for me to find them. ?) And looking at Nvidia, it seems that NMS Is still supported there, through steam and xbox.
I’m sure I’ve seen that done already.
