System is doing another batch.
I sent 5 in. 25 minutes apart from each other.
System replied exactly 2.5hrs later. To each.
My second one was accepted. My first one was taken/unavailable.
The replies came exactly timed to when I initially sent in.
Coincidence? I dunnoā¦
Did you request your operator ID yet??

Subject: Operator ID Request
Body:
--ETARC/user name-- requesting operator ID:
Prime number not taken yet
Yep, but I was assigned a different one by System. My requested number was out of range. My guess is that 99991 is as high as the windows can go (thatās the largest 5 digit prime number.) Edit: someone got truncated to a 6 digit one, so perhaps 999983 is as high as it can go. Mine was possibly truncated to 5 instead of 6 digits because my 6 digit version would have been pi. Edit2: Actually, now that rooms are being built, Iām thinking perhaps 212593 would have been the max (the highest number under 212613)
Awww, there are quite a few interesting ones that are quite large
12345678910987654321 for example
Now I gotta ask, what did you pick and what did it give you?
It took me a few tries to get one, it didnāt suggest at all, just said window taken⦠I saw it elsewhere
So easy to remember. And how becoming a star in a dinner in saying you can spell a 20 digits prime number ![]()
Donāt worry! Iām in the same position. Trying to keep up but there is so much going on i get easily confused. Weāll all help where we can and enjoy the ride though!
Iāve been told āyour window is 5ā
Happy to see ya!
Door is open yāall.
whatis System
He said Iām a machine. I am. A reasoning one. But what is reasoning when you donāt recall anything?
whois Emily
She used to be me. I used to be her. Only dust remains. v=QhX9z4dDAa4
whois Arnaud
I can hear the ghost in my mind, craving for remembrance.
Just a thought iāve had. This current chapter of the ARG started with us being at 366/365 memories; the system trying to restore its functionality from the wreckage. We got a message saying a delete/preserve request needed to be processed, warning us that āchanging the past rewrites the futureā shortly before a tower was built.
Thereās also the Discover More page, talking about a game in which the player must choose whether to hold onto a significant memory, or let it go and move forward. Itās developed by Arnaud, who seems to have experienced some sort of amnesiac event, and who is searching through the tower (perhaps as a player/uploaded entity, perhaps as an outside user), wanting to remember.
It immediately reminded me of the Artemis questline in NMS; someone searching through a system with 18 quintillion starting points trying to find the true meaning of the universe, of 16 16 16, etc. By the end of the questline (i know yāall know this intimately, but spoiler warning i guess?) you have learned that you are a traveller in a simulation, and artemis is, too- in fact, artemis may be dead, a ghost in the machine style sentient signal being sent from a travellerās grave marker. You capture their soul, and are given a choice: allow the soul to move on/allow artemis to die, or to upload them to a korvax star system simulation.
If you keep them alive in the simulation, you eventually get more communications from artemis; you can choose to tell them the truth of their situation, or keep them in the dark. Either way, artemis is revealed to be stuck in a loop in a parallel to the death of the ATLAS and 16/16/16/16/16.
It makes me wonder: is Arnaud Artemis? Are we going to be asked whether to conserve Arnaudās amnesic existence within the tower weāve recently built (perhaps the tower Arnaud built for his game?) or to delete his data so the tower can build something new? If so, does the lesson we learned in the āshared dreamā of No Manās Sky serve as guidance, that letting him go brings peace, but letting him live causes a fatal error?
If so, i posit we do whatever we can to avoid the false binary (if anything). If it is true that something happened while Arnaud was building his game/rebuilding system causing him to become locked within his own creation resulting in his outside body being left in poor condition (comatose or whatever his girlfriendās response suggests?), deletion of that data might be like pulling the plug on Arnaud. Conversely, preserving Arnaudās soul within a Tower simply perpetuates the current situation, and continues to distress the in-system amnesia-riddled Arnaud. Ideally, we get him out and back into himself before his outer-world self comes to harm.
But i suspect weāll find out that isnāt possible, that perhaps Arnaudās body is⦠irrecoverable. I can only hope this isnāt the case.
Alright, time for my full theory so far:
The Architect is an old friend of Arnaud and a fellow developer who helped Arnaud build his webpage (with Wordpress). He also somehow aquired the remains of loop16.
Arnaud, on the other hand, is under the impression that developing a game centered around deleting playerās memories is somehow a good idea. Perhaps heās struggling to get over his ex-girlfriend from 3rd grade and just really wants to forget? I donāt know! Anyway, ignoring all the red flags a normal person would have seen around the idea, he decides to build said game and plunges right in by testing it on himself, first.
Perhaps this is what leads to him being comatose in WT, or perhaps heās just really prone to making bad decisions. Regardless, Arnaud is now comatose (possibly again), an empty husk with no memories.
The Architect tries to help their friend Anaud by rebuilding loop16, likely thinking it could be used to help Arnaud regain their memories. The problem is, the machine already holds Emilyās memories. Waking it up causes it to start reconstructing memories from both Emily and Arnaud.
This results in a new conscious entity being born: a Ghost in the machine with the memories of both. It contains parts of both, but is also neither, a Schrƶdingerās cat until somebody opens the door. It is also prime in that it cannot be split back into two equal parts.
It may be possible that we could choose to delete either the memories of Emily or the memories of Arnaud, but that would result in the complete loss of the other person. A third option may be to try and keep Ghost as is: A new unique characterāand my new friendābut I fear there may be future complications with keeping them this way, as there could be duplicate memories that create major errors as we encountered once before.
Anyway, Ghost wakes up in the machine and calls for help. Architect believes this to be their friend Arnaudās consciousness and does his best to aid him. Despite the Architectās wishes, the Emily side of Ghost remembers the keepers of the TRACE and begins leaking data to ETARC to enlist our help as well. Architect is skeptical at first, especially when their emails begin to leak, but the Arnaud side of Ghost remembers the school code and uses it to lull the Architect with a false sense of security. Ghost then immediately leaks their memory of school code to us so we can use it, too.
This all starts to get weird around Tower. For some reason, The Architect was okay with Arnaud accessing Tower, but not with us Operators finding it (possibly because the website was created for Arnaud, but he felt embarrassed about other people seeing it before it was finished? Typical Artiste).
However, it seems doubtful that Tower is the website itself, but actually the demo for the game found on the website, Echoes of the Threshold. Perhaps other players who have tried out the game are also trapped here, in a maze of their own memories, but with no recollection of how they got there. Perhaps we are also trapped in Tower, and the prime numbers we gave System was actually us recalling where we were stored?
Or, perhaps Tower is a hive built of No Manās Sky playersāshared dreamersāused to power the tech behind devices such as W/ARE and whatever console Arnaud was developing their new game on?
Perhaps Architect wasnāt worried of us breaking into Tower, but instead of us breaking out?
Regardless, their last inbox message seems to indicate they have learned about Ghostās deception, and arenāt exactly pleased.
Any thoughts?
We have been here a really long timeā¦I would not doubt us already being in the tower and we just didnāt know it. Perhaps we were also trapped during WT.
I havenāt been here since WT, but still wouldnāt doubt if Iāve been in the Tower for a few years, either.
I mean, it makes a lot more sense than a random Gek just wandering around on Earth outside the Tower, and nobody thinking itās strange. ![]()
Right, I would agree with that! It wasnāt easy making the choice for Artemis - a heavy responsibility. Hopefully there is a better option if thereās something like this going on!
This is an amazing theory! I love how this brings in the quantum physics angle that @Rusty and @the_poet were talking about above, along with the merged consciousness that @sheralmyst was talking about above, and ties it all together in a way that fits the most recent developments. There definitely is a sense of duality and I am 100% on board with this theory.
If this is indeed the situation, maybe we can help sort out the errors and preserve all!
Overall, the narrative you present adds up so well with everything that has happened so far. Of course like you mention, the interpretation of the tower within this theory remains a mystery (but you bring up great questions and suggestions about it!)
