Base Building & Settlements in Frontiers

Can still glitch stuff,. I’m finding it a bit imprecise now though

I keep setting out to glitch build and end up doing something entirely different that does not really require any glitching at all. I did have to glitch a floor under the cockpit.

I look at these and think - how? How long? This would take me weeks. Do you setup some kind of scaffolding to build or just jump a lot? I’m happy if I manage to build a square wood box with a door.

I must try the new base building mechanism to build a new base. It seems much easier?

In the past, you would need to glitch many pieces in. Now, once you have set up the foundation for a circle, you simply place the remaining pieces. A simple button press toggles between snap and free placement. There are still some fiddly pieces that don’t want cooperate. To get middle windows in the main room, I had to stand outside on the porch and force it to be turned properly but then, each piece after that followed the orientation of the first piece.
I highly recommend Beeblebum on YT

I’m finding my electricity cloaking device is non- functional upon reload.
Really annoying… I’ve got blue cables all over the place & have to keep building the gizmo to hide them.

Look at the new menus: You can press B and then you get a top-down view like photomode, from which you can build. You can even pick up placed parts and move them without dismantling them. It’s really much easier.

Must be a bug, the guy who built in “my” settlement has the same problem!

Built myself a new base about 250-something galaxies away from Euclid on a mild Calcishroom type world. The system is in habited but the planet I’m on has only old Boundary Failures.
Used a mix of the old and new components with mostly ‘snap’ except where something was misbehaving.

Exterior includes a forest garden of the many varieties of plants and collectables available.

I mixed a few different building materials with mostly alloy and stone inside and a mostly wood and stone outside with some module components as well.

Interior

I really like the new decorative features like the recliner for sitting in front of the fire place and the other bits that make the kitchen and dining room feel more finished.

You can place stickers on rugs for variety

and maybe someone can take this idea and improve it. :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

also, collision on the new table and stool is fixed in 3xp so hopefully all will get it soon.

The settlement towers come with their own stickers (and no door).

Could you please take close-up pics of the watertower posters and post them in the alphabet thread? Unless they are the same as mine.
( squints )
I haven’t unlocked all the deco yet, I assume they are all taken at random from the building deco sets?

Euclid
Normal mode

Just beware, my last visitor kept falling through the floor… :scream:
Impressive mountains on one side of this planet and rolling hills on the other side. In fact, this base is so high up, ships sometimes get hung under it.

Is that a base somebody built behind the settlement?

It looks like it but, I really don’t know.

You can never have too many marketplaces. I’ve got 22 peeps.

Well, walking from one end of the settlement to the other with a full grocery bag is exhausting, you see…

After having many problems with my settlement, I decided to give up on it and start over in a new location. It turns out that building the overseer’s office now takes three stages of 90 seconds each, so it’s pretty easy to do. I needed GekNip to take over the job as overseer, which I did not recall needing before. Subsequent buildings seem to take an hour per stage.
