I do not have the frosty legendary either. I have the rest from there. Currently working on the irradiated fish and I am having trouble catching all of them…something is off.
I think I want a chart which tells me which conditions each is caught in. And does anyone know the depth cutoff point…what depths are considered shallow, average and especially where does deep begin.
Now that I think about it, I think I caught the large legendary on the cold planet, in shallow water…I thought I just caught a lucky break but maybe it is misplaced. Will look at my records when I drag myself outta bed in a bit.
I think the Legendarys can be caught in any condition, easiest seems to be at night or day when there is no storm causing extra fish to appear in the chance pool. Nevermind, I just caught my fist legendary that had a requirement, only appears at night. So it seems like the Frost Legendarys might have some unique conditions, I imagine the others might exist in the storms I’ve been avoifing.
I’m not sure of the cut off for shallow to deep but I tend to stick around anywhere under 20u for small/medium and then I know for sure anything above 50u is deep water for sure but I’m not sure if the deeper the water, the higher the chance or if its just a hard cut off at a certain depth.
I do feel like I was catching collosus fish more often at 100+ U depth compared to 50 or 75 but again, could be all in my head.
I’ve also noticed flotsam is absent from the deeper waters so if you’re hunting Messages in Bottles stick to the shores.
If I remember correctly, the expedition made a point of travelling to a certain depth, I think maybe it was 30u? If not it was 40.
That might actually be the current threshold point between small/medium in shallow waters and large/colossal in deep waters.
You can also catch small and medium fish in the deeper waters so its a wider pool for catching the lrge/colossal legendarys, but since it more or less removes the chance of flotsam, both depth pools even out (i need to find a better term than pool when talking about fish.)
Another thing that might just be my imagination but… I felt like I’m catching more legendarys with bionic lure, even though Caramel Ice Cream has a higher catch rate of rares, and i have only been using the Ice Cream during day so as not to be interefered with by its Night Fish bonus.
I am working on a bionic lure farm so maybe my luck will increase. Have used the ice cream to catch several legendary but also a lot of rare. I guess I accidentally sold my first legendary or it escaped out of a hole in the cooler. I can’t find it…
Moved us out of screenshots.
I’ve kept all my legendaries except [REDACTED]
just in case following the descriptions commands would cause something special to happen
Thanks for moving the conversation, I was just about to ask if someone could cover up the mess I’d made
I made an edit to my above posts about Legendarys not having special requirements. I caught one with a night condition in a frozen biome. So the other must need a storm maybe but it certainly makes these some of the harder legendarys to try and catch for me so far.
I’ve only really spent time trying toxic, desert and lush outside of the expedition when trying to figure out what the last biome in the list was, then stuck to -kzzkt-
until I satiated my curiosity with that unique looking catch.
Also spent some time fishing lureless in a tiny pond on an irradiated planet a friend and first-time Traveller spawned on; killing time while they sorted their arse from their elbows and sharing tips like a geriatric wikipedia who hasn’t done a fresh run in umpteen updates.
So far my Legendary checklist looks like this
All Biomes 4/4
Toxic/extreme-pH 0/4
Iradiated 0/4
Scorched 0/4
Frozen 2/4 (There is one I caught in Expedition I have not recaught yet, so “3” technically)
Lush 1/4
Desert/Arid 2/4
[-KZZKT-]
4/4

I was flying low and trying to find the deepest waters on an arid planet. It just never looks very deep even in the middle of the ocean. So I called in the Nautilon and took a dive. The depth registered around 17 u. Not deep. Just as it appears to the eye. But I called in my skiff and and cast my line…66 u deep…
Well that is deep enough it seems because I caught 2 legendary. One with a bionic lure (arid specific) and one with the caramel ice cream (an all biome legendary) both during the day.
Nice table. Thx.
@sheralmyst - I’d report that water depth discrepancy. All ways to check should reflect the same value.
Fishing for compliments are we?
Have not had this issue though I would not mind having it, I’ve dug some spots deeper when I needed them to be, would have saved me some time.
I’ve only been using the default fishing rig. I wonder if it’s something to do with the Expedition Rig or its placement on a multi tool? Is this happening on all planets or just some?
Has happened on the 2 planets I checked but not with the same amount of difference. And it does not matter if I stand on the skiff or on my ship or on land.
I’m gonna have a mess around and see if I can reproduce this. Maybe it’s just haunted by The Lone Angler
Is it on PC or Console you’re having the issue?
I needed eggs more than anything so I let Nature scatter blaster take its course to clear up all those crabs bringing apples to my coops. (I’ve never done this before, I guess becoming a farmer also turns you into a butcher by trade…)
I ended up with lots of meat, which is the second reason I avoid killing creatures (the first being because its just not very kind).
Normally I’d clear my inventory of the stuff immediately as I never cook and all its variants quickly clog up the Nutrient Processors inventory, but I’m a fisherman now so I figure it’s time to figure out what can be done with the clutter.
It turns out, very easily with meat, you can get some nice high-mid tier lures. I nearly hit on it on one of my earlier posts but I used a different sauce that isn’t as easy to make.
Pretty much all meat types can be cooked once into processed meat, or doubled up on itself to make meaty or organ stew, crystaline soup etc.
The stuff that just turns into processed meat can then be doubled up to become the meat stew.
Next you need milk, which I happen to be getting in abundance on my Ice Cream Farm for turning into cream.
My stores very quickly had filled up with cream, stews and soups.
Cream can be double up on itself to make Creamy Sauce. Great for making more space but also great when combined with Stew or soup.
The Mystery Meat or Organ Stew combined with Creamy Sauce makes a Lure that gives you
Rarity: 69%
Size: 46%
Storm Loving Fish
The Soups mixed with Creamy Sauce makes a lure that gives you
Rarity: 41%
Size: 61%
Storm Loving Fish
On PC is the depth issue.
Cheese and Flesh Stew has good odds. Easy to make.
I really dislike farming. We need to be able to either speed the process up or add faecium as fertilizer and increase the yield
I am posting my fishing shacks for anyone looking for the planets needed to complete the fishing record. The only one I am uncertain of is the scorched planet. I have yet to see a storm. It was difficult for me to find a scorched planet with water. If anyone has one known to have storms and don’t mind a neighbor, please share.

There was a volcanic planet I came across I’ve been meaning to get back to for catching scorched biome fish.
Now that they’ve added a handy Portal Address feature to the Wonders tab you can just pull up the address of anywhere you’ve been by adding it to your personal Wonders collection
I can’t recall how bad the weather was on Solaniocea but I’d say storms are more frequent on Vonaccu as it has Activated Cadmium.
The system Solaniocea is in is handy as it also has Arid and Irradiated water planets.
Definitely visiting the ancient ruin for desert fishing when I get back around to that biome, currently trying for the last 3 I need in toxic category
OK, a genuine
Oh, poo! Thanks for the chuckle.
