I’m so sorry I didn’t notice a second thread on the specific thing I was going to talk about! I assumed it would all be in one place. Now I know lol. Oh wow, and now I have more of a backlog to catch up on, sorry if I repeated stuff y’all had already mentioned.
@ThatBomberBoi should we focus our poem / unstable_memory_bloc / corrupted_fragment pursuits here?
Making a new thread might be good for this. As it’s a new train of thought.
I think the entire /Quote page is one big active puzzle atm, so it might be best to keep discussion here where we can scroll back up and see the progression of the page over time since that might also be a hint.
I’ve also set up a spreadsheet to compile our thoughts / data for the POST requests. Comment access is enabled for the time being, and if anyone needs edit access, feel free to shoot me a DM:
Adding the DM here for the sake of compilation:
Network status: nominal
Diagnostic unstable_memory_bloc= key
Priority task: identify corrupted fragment
Action required: inject additional_data
Warning: Injection of unvalidated data may significantly increase system instability
@William I think a poll before trying would help coordinate for sure. If @the_architect doesnt want us to spam / brute-force, then the answer we’re supposed to send is probably clear enough to discern when we figure it out.
Old poem
Blue birds are invisible on the blue sky,
They vanish in silence where secrets lie.
No wing, no shadow, no trace in the light,
They are the unseen that watches the night.
vs
New poem
Dark birds aer invisible on the April’s night sky,
Thye vanish in silence where lies hide.
No wing, no shadow, no trace beneath June’s lights,
They are the awakened watches that tikc through time.
I’m just gonna make some small observations, minor details.
8, 7, 9, 8 words per line in the first vs 9, 7, 9, 9 in the second.
11, 10, 10, 10 syllables per line vs 13, 8, 11, 12
41, 41, 42, 43 characters per line vs 50, 39, 51, 53 (including spaces and punctuation)
In the first line:
- It changes from a specific color blue to an ambiguous shade of dark.
- “are” changes to “aer”, which is probably just a misspelling of “are”, but also “aer” is ancient talk for air or gas (aerospace, aerosol, aerate)
- blue birds on a blue sky vs Dark birds on the april’s sky. any random blue sky vs the specific sky of april. blue and blue becomes dark and april. Is April dark for some reason, or is it just because we’re talking about the night?
In the second line:
- They becomes Thye. Again, probably a misspelling, however “thye” also means “your” (archaic spelling of thy). That would still be grammatically incorrect, but I’m being thorough so it had to be mentioned.
- Both lines talk about the birds vanishing in silence, the difference is in where they vanish.
- First poem is slightly more passive “where secrets lie”. The secrets are just laying there.
- Second poem is more active “where lies hide”. The lies actively hide there.
- secrets lie still, hoping not to catch notice. your eyes can pass right over them and it’s okay so long as they look like everything else in the area. the lies however, they have to actively hide. you hide when you know that if you are seen, you’ll immediately be caught for being out of place and you can’t just try to blend in like a secret. This entire bit about the second line is a big stretch and based completely on my own preference in interpretation, probably not useful for serious codebreaking.
In the third line:
- Very little changes except the very end. “in the light” vs “beneath June’s lights”
- an amorphous “the” light compared to the very specific lights of June
- one light (or all light) in the first compared to multiple lights in June
- a random google informed me that June is the only month with 3 official birthstones when I asked it why June might be the only month with “multiple lights compared to the others”
- a more specific search however found that there are several bright constellations which are visible in June
- The Summer Triangle (Vega in Lyra, Deneb in Cygnus, Altair in Aquila) - three bright stars forming a clear triangle high in the east
- Arcturus (Boötes), Antares (Scorpius), parts of Ursa Major/Minor, Hercules, etc
- Since NMS has many references to the Greek Pantheon of gods, this astrology angle bears mentioning too
- June spans Gemini (twins, duality/multiple) into Cancer. The plural “lights” could nod to Gemini’s twin nature
- And finally, since June 20-21st give or take is the solstice, the longest night is going to have the most stars in the sky (probably?)
In the fourth line:
- They in the first poem almost certainly references the birds that vanished
- the birds are unseen (because they vanished) and now they watch the night
- closes out the poem confirming that we were talking about the birds the whole time
- In the second, “They” could talk about the birds or the lights
- similar to the first poem, the birds vanished, and now they are “awakened watches” that tick through time
- this feels like a stretch to me. the birds vanished even though there’s all this light out there, and now they’re biding their time counting seconds until … what? until some danger has passed? maybe the danger that made them want to vanish in the first place?
- Instead, “they” is talking about the lights in the June sky
- the stars themselves are the cosmic timekeepers of the galaxy
- i 100% like this interpretation more because it sounds cooler to me, but i don’t think it matters either way
I added a link to this post to the top post for ease in finding it
reposting this here for completeness (apologies if repetitive with what’s already been shared):
Some important things I think we should pay attention to:
- The unstable memory bloc is clearly the Quote page. (as evidenced by “Current status: unstable” towards the bottom of the page). Every page on Project Skyscraper is a memory bloc (barring sec-logs and the like). So this is the unstable memory bloc.
- The corrupted memory fragment is, in my opinion, the poem itself. Here’s why I believe that:
The poem used to read,
Blue birds are invisible on the blue sky,
They vanish in silence where secrets lie.
No wing, no shadow, no trace in the light,
They are the unseen that watches the night.
And it has since been updated, now reading,
Dark birds aer invisible on the April’s night sky,
Thye vanish in silence where lies hide.
No wing, no shadow, no trace beneath June’s lights,
They are the awakened watches that tikc through time.
This is a clear sign of memory that has been corrupted.
Our goal moving forward is NOT to spam the site with post injections. Instability isn’t what we’re aiming for. We need to methodically and precisely find a specific string which will likely progress us to the next phase of this event.
Interesting that the “e,” the “y,” and the “k” are all shifted left one character, which highlights an anagram for “key” (unstable_memory_bloc=key). My question though is, why these specific words? There are other instances of “e,” “y,” and “k” in th poem, but they were ignored. Instead, the specific words, “are,” “they,” and “tick” were chosen.
I also added this to the top post for ease in finding it later
Identification of corrupted data : TIME is false
Date is false : nothing relevant happened on 13/04/2005 09:32:00 (1113384720 or 38455)
Picture is not real : not now, not then (back in 2005, or even back in the days of Wallace Stevens) but was only ‘true’ from 2023 up to last month…
So i suggest : key=TIME
edit : or DATE ![]()
Oh and i forgot that date is not a sunday…but a wednesday
I am still outta
. I am watching them on discord trying to figure this out…the 3 letters shifted in the poem are k, e, y
Suggestion the memory block 1113384720 may be used…
Name and location…LeForgeron, The Blacksmith, Promenade de l’Orag
Now questions about the poem.
I would add remember the page calls the poem Sunday Morning. But that is not the poem we got…
Also, the poem (that the system appears to be trying to correct) is not Steven’s “Sunday Morning”.
The first stanza of the real Sunday Morning reads:
Complacencies of the peignoir, and late
Coffee and oranges in a sunny chair,
And the green freedom of a cockatoo
Upon a rug mingle to dissipate
The holy hush of ancient sacrifice.
She dreams a little, and she feels the dark
Encroachment of that old catastrophe,
As a calm darkens among water-lights.
The pungent oranges and bright, green wings
Seem things in some procession of the dead,
Winding across wide water, without sound.
The day is like wide water, without sound.
Stilled for the passing of her dreaming feet
Over the seas, to silent Palestine,
Dominion of the blood and sepulchre.
We have some problems here: the genuine “Sunday Morning” is not written in quatrains. We would have to just snip out the first four lines.
A suggestion is perhaps the timestamp needs to be changed
For this specific part, I think “inject_additional_data” might mean feeding the changed poem fragments back into the site somehow. Since the site is WordPress based, I started looking into things like URL searches using ?s=, comments, tags, and the wp-json API. The weird part is the API mentions things like “resolved” and “reopen,” which feels oddly connected to the idea of corrupted fragments needing repaired. My main thought right now is that the altered words in the evolving poem are the actual fragments we’re supposed to identify and then somehow “inject” back into the system through searches, URLs, or comments. But also I like what your on to as well
Changes in poem hint at time (or date) too
April, June appeared
A link to ‘Sunday Morning’ for those who want to check it out: https://www.poetryfoundation.org/poetrymagazine/poems/13261/sunday-morning
Stanza IV mentions birds and the months of April and June.
Is it possible there is a missing line?
The text from the logs has a poetry style to it.
Has it been found to have a purpose or reference yet?
“They can see the tower… but not the one inside.”
There is more suggestion about a closer look at the picture as well
@the_architect saying that we need to identify corrupted_fragment reads to me like we might have to find the origins of the corrupted words that were switched around, and send that in as an answer, since if the entire bloc is visibly unstable, the corrupted fragments themselves are probably the diffs?
Haven’t been able to find anything that jumps out though
The problem there is that the whole poem is corrupted - it’s the wrong poem.
The verse on the “Quote” page is not from Steven’s “Sunday Morning”.
Also, the versse went through various changes yesterday. The verse we have now is a corrupted version of the verse we originally had - and that was the wrong verse to begin with.
So where to look for significant corruption?
