After deciding to sell my unused red orb split-wing; I left it behind on a Trading Post.
Sometime later I found it was still there but when I landed the ships merged in an unholy union.
You can kinda recreate that. With 2 landing pads at your base, land your ship on one then buy a ship when it lands on the other one. Delete the pad your old ship is on and boop the ship…
A while ago, there was some discussion about Vy’keen parentage - and whether they have mothers and fathers. This warrior’s name suggests we’ve solved one half of the puzzle.
My game glitched the other night and all the final overlay sharp details in decals and most graphics disappeared.
One side effect was this baby-faced gek. Issue fixed upon reload.
Being really prosaic, this sort of thing is what led early data miners to declare that there were alien “greys” hidden in the NMS code.
In fact, the NPC faces are built up in a series of layers. Each layer adds more detail than the last, but they are, to some extent, transparent.
If your game gets overloaded, and slows down (as it often does), then faces can be slow to render. What you’re seeing there is the base textures, before the final finishes and details get added.
The original base textures are very primitive, and lack any fine detail. Some of them can look a lot like the loopy theorist’s ideas of “greys”.
