Spring is almost upon us, so it is time for me to host another strange No Man’s Sky contest! Those who remember last year’s fishing tournament fondly, this is what you didn’t know you’ve been waiting for. Those who remember it not fondly, this will be better, I promise. Those who have no memory of any such thing…trust me, it was great.

On to the important matters at hand.

WHAT YOU NEED IN ORDER TO PARTICIPATE

Portal Access, so you can get to the course.

A Nomad, obviously. Tuned up however you want.

About an hour to an hour and a half of uninterrupted game time at some point between March 1st and March 15th. If you are short on navigation skills or your Nomad is really slow you may need a bit longer.

REGISTRATION

Send me a PM to register any time before March 1st.

WHAT DO I GET?

On March first you will get a PM back with five pictures, each with their latitude and longitude on the host planet of the race. On those pictures will be the portal code to get there.

WHAT DO I DO THEN?

Go to the planet, and at the START checkpoint take a picture with you, your Nomad, and the checkpoint marker. Go to each checkpoint in turn and take a picture, again with yourself, your Nomad, and the checkpoint marker. When you have completed the course, PM the five pictures, with their original timestamp titles, to me. Easy peasy.

HOW DO I WIN?

Well, going fast helps. Not getting lost helps more. Your Nomad displays GPS coordinates on the dashboard, and you will have the checkpoint GPS coordinates, so not getting lost should be pretty easy. NOTE: The rally course is very close to the south pole of the planet, which does add some challenge to the navigation.

THEN WHAT?

At the end of the racing period (March 15) or when I get all the entries if that is sooner, I will post the pictures into this thread for ooohs and aaaaahs. You can WIN by having the fastest time. Each leg of the rally will have a winner as well as the fastest overall time. You will also be a winner if your pictures gather the most ooohs and aaaahs, so get the best angles, lighting, and compositions. Natural landscape photos only. Remember, you are in a race, not a building contest.

WILL THERE BE PRIZES?

Well, I still owe @toddumptious a stack of pies from last year’s contest, so don’t count on anything that will pay the mortgage, but maybe.

Corvette pieces seem like the new and always welcomed currency, especially with its own storage place.

I always have room for pies though.

Cool racetrack. Won’t get much fishing done in that though mind you…

Ps5 timestamps the photos in its naming structure which is nice, I’ll be able to accurately tell which locations I got turned around on the most

That timestamp naming structure is how we are timing the run. Glad you said that about PS though. I knew it worked on PC and as is my bad habit never thought about other platforms.

And so it begins. Rally participants have been sent their starting information and checkpoints. Atlas-speed to you all!
