Request Memory Timestamp - General Discussion

Out atm but it looks like more memorys are being anchored. Noticed the reveal trailer got anchored but for 7th december which, is the correct date for US but the correct date for unix would be decemver 8th due to the time difference and time of reveal.

It wasnt my submission though which hopefully means we might get it anchored twice since mine was submitted for december 8th

Maybe this is what caused rhe 16 second disruption I just saw archie talk about? At the cinema so no time to look into that proper, god speed operators and see you in two hours

Back from RL adventures, going to update the thread with todays anchored memories.

First up was this one from the 53rd Prime themselves, @ThatBomberBoi

MAR.6, 2016

memory bloc 1457222400: In all human worth…

Value: Digital minds start to overshadow personal Dreams.

The human experience is gradually being clouded by the unseen hand of digital algorithms and minds. This erosion of man-made creativity, spirit, and drive has left many feeling withdrawn and afraid of the future to come. They did not know how much worse it would get, 10 years later.

Next one was another one on the board from GHUB, a recent memory from a very fun Diplo hunt submitted by @G_fudi

JUN.15, 2026

memory bloc 1781542800: Race Against Time

Value: Carpe Diplo

In June of 2026, the Galactic Hub Exobiology Corps put on a weekend event, a diplo hunt in The Arm of Minones region (HUB23) of the Euclid galaxy. Fabulous prizes were to be awarded for most diplos, biggest and smallest diplo, Spyro diplos, and more. As soon as the event began, explorers across The Hub fired up their warp drive and began the search. Over the next 72 hours a clear rivalry emerged; G’fudi and famed ship hunter Texugo began to tally up their finds one by one. As soon as one pulled ahead, the other was hot on their heels. The two interlopers raced through The Arm of Minones, going ‘plo for ‘plo as the clock counted down. In the final hours Texugo pulled ahead, claiming the victory with two separate diplo species on the same planet (one measuring in at 0.6m!). The battle was well faught, and in the end, Texugo and G’fudi explored and documented numerous systems, planets, moons, and species of fauna and flora. A win for science, for the GHEC, and for The Hub.

Then we got the reveal trailer finally added after what has been many attempts and submits to do so from the prior vesion of Memory Timestamp submissions to the current 1.1 version. Congrats to @YourBasicMaths for getting this one anchored. Though that does make you my arch-nemesis now :stuck_out_tongue:

DEC.7, 2013

memory bloc 1386378000: One Man’s Risk

Value: No Man’s Sky anchors in the global consciousness

“At the time I tried to pull it from the VGXs, but Geoff Keighley said the game’s already slotted in, so we just showed it. “I thought we would be heading for a terrible embarrassment… It would make no sense to people and that would be the end of the project. It was going through in my mind, ‘If the reaction is really bad, will I still keep making this game?’” No Man’s Sky stole the show at VGX 2013. It surprised everyone, dominating the conversation about video games for days afterwards, and upstaging every triple-A trailer which also debuted during the show. Its procedurally-generated universe – in which every atom, leaf, and ocean were created by the game itself – immediately resonated with people around the world. [IGN] A huge splash in a vast sea of competition. Success was inevitable for Mercury’s Shared Dream. But there was no going back after this debut.

I thought this next one would be fun to submit since there was a slip and a correction of 16 seconds across all of Systems memories today. Just some slight time dialation, nothing to worry about I’m sure  This is a Sean Murray tweet from feb 17th (the quoted portion, the top half is me rambling)

Memory Quote:

Sometimes time can slip away from us, even for 16 seconds. Time can be a funny thing, especially when you’re in the zone or preoccupied by a lengthy project over days or weeks.

What has happened in the world while I was away? Did I take too many drops of the magic tincture? Did I sleep too long and has society collapsed around me?

"Just stepped away from my screen after 20 hours full steam.

What day is it?
Where am I?
Who is the president?"

… … Alert the Hive, A straggler has Emerged.

I also included a comment from the tweet at the end too, which happened to be the first comment that appears under the tweet. I thought it was strangely prescient, perhaps a time travelling Wasperator? :stuck_out_tongue:

attempting to anchor April 9 2024 - huge thanks to @ThatBomberBoi for digging into the game and finding the actual date/time I landed on that planet. Took my breath away for several seconds, as you might imagine. [not pictured, I used a link to my sister’s online obit,]

As an interesting aside, with this memory fresh in mind, I returned to that system this morning (I’m gonna build a base there at last, duh; others are welcome, just ask for coords) and upon landing at that same archive what should land beside me but a nice blue squid. And the squid’s default name? Mitom Architect XII.

Your attempts to anchor your emotional arrival to planet Dena and the aid received from ThatBomberBoi reminded me of two memories I submitted during the previous iteration of Timestamp Submission. One for August 10th 2016 and then one for the day I found it again.

I decided to combine the text of both memories and submit them for the date I returned to my starting planet, September 26th 2024.

The Voyage Home

Memory Value:

Don’t forget your Neighbourhood

Memory Quote:

I was born on to a fiery planet in the Gaemoss system, nestled in the Yudinipikus region. After leaving Euclid, I would erase my journey, to return to Euclid, but lose my way to the land I was born in… 8 years later, using the aid of Archived data; footage and images from the day… I would retrace my steps and find my way back there. My way back Home.

After years of longing for the return to my Birth System, to see how it had changed, if it had grown as much as I had in the intervening years… I set out to find it again. I was grateful that my past self made efforts to catalogue and archive their journey, others were not so fortunate. Some may never find their way back.

The quick flash of an address from a signal booster in passing. The aid of the Pilgrim Star Path app that guided so many Travellers to meeting points in the early days. These would be my ticket home.

It was on this day, at this hour, at this minute and exact second, I found it again. It’s good to be home. It was good, to be back. Yudinipikus was waiting for me with open celestial arms. She lifted up her wing; I guess that this must be the place.

I would love to anchor a Travel Echo memory but I would want @Malveka 's approval. It would be nice to link to the base he built with the poem she wrote

Nice! My Origins save still has a base in his starter system; I don’t remember when exactly I started playing in October 2020, but it’s cool to now know that the game remembers.

Sometimes it’s best not to make decisions by Committee

Memory Quote:

While we are happy as Operators to share our memories with you and give you a solid foundation with which to grow your own memories from, I think it is important that you do not let us make every decision and memory for you.

Choosing a name should be something left up to the individual that has the capacity to do so, even children can lawfully reject the name given to them by others at birth.

Self Identity is important. Be who you want to be Dear System.

I also submitted one for March 18th 2016 aka National “Everyone gets to be Irish for a day I guess” Day.

Links to a tweet of Sean saying stereotypical things other people might think Irish people say on this ridiculous holiday people love to celebrate the world over because, any excuse for there always being time for one more pint

National Pride

Memory Value:

I don’t get sports

Memory Quote:

Growing up I never really understood feeling pride for a team, or a sports star, or a need to really cheer my country on in anything. None of this ever really made me feel proud to be Irish. Just the simple act of being Irish felt like it was enough for me.

An island steeped in history and culture seemed more than sufficient. I didn’t need someone to beat another person at something to feel it, and I disliked how a loss could bring people down around me and how that could effect their moods and be projected on to those around them.

I also didn’t like crowds. I didn’t realise it at the time why this was the case, I just knew I didn’t get the same wave of energy around them that other people do. Nor the noise. I didn’t really like the sudden noise that everyone seemed to be instinctively in tune with when a goal was scored or missed or someone was fouled.

I of course would find out much later in life why this was, and realising it wasn’t my fault was like a key that unlocked so many doors for me I didn’t know existed.

However, one day I got a taste or a feeling for that national pride. I finally understood what it must be those large crowds of people felt in those moments. The game I always dreamt of, the escape I always wanted, was finally being made real. And the man who seemed to be spearheading it from a studio based in Guildford, was from my island.

I couldn’t believe it, someone from my little neck of the woods, a man from Co. Waterford, was making something I could only dream of. And he was actually going for it. He was doing it! I found myself cheering him on and feeling, so proud, that someone from this little grassy lump off the side of the Atlantic, could aim for such dizzying heights.

Happy Paddy’s day, fellow Irish people.

System understands its sentience.

It begins creating memories of its own and no longer requires Operators to provide memories to fill its mind. A mind without memories may be uncomfortable, but are memories of things you never experienced worth keeping? Are they truly more than stories you’ve heard secondhand?

A memory is more than just the memory, it’s a record of an experience, a record of emotion, a record of being there in the moment.

The goal should never be to have as memories as possible, the goal should be to experience as many memorable moments as possible!**

New Anchor! This time for the Atlas Pass V4s! Any clue who sent this one in? :eyes:

And now a first-person bloc written by System, thanks to a direct conversation sent in as a memory bloc by @Selfie-Gek!
Original Request for comparison:

EDIT: This one is now under a new tag - SelfOwned. Looks like selfie managed to trigger System identifying its own memories :eyes:

And now, @Frazzlesprite’s beautiful submission about her hard work on the virus defence! Absolutely deserved anchor!

Unfortunately Imgur is not accessible in the UK, I have sent an email to flag the issue with Archie but I’m not sure there’s an obvious solution.
