Got it! Thank you. I’ll let Teh_JME know.

They used to have a subreddit but it seems it’s been deleted and was never archived by the Wayback Machine. https://www.reddit.com/r/NoMansSkyLove/ if anyone else has any luck there.

The Facebook group is still around and still has some activity, though I don’t know if they’re an organized civ anymore or just more of an informal group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/NoMansSkyLove/

It is a hunt, then. Are we going to visit old dead player sites and communities, relay them to Tower, and be led somewhere special?

If that is the goal, I have an extremely helpful resource: https://archaeologydataservice.ac.uk/archives/view/nomansky_2019/

These are the results of Andrew Reinhard’s thesis project for his Digital Archaeology PhD. He did part of his work in Galactic Hub space and documented many old base sites in detail, down to even 3D scans of some of them.

Woah wait, he actually surveyed the Abundance site! (Not all sites were within Hub space, those are just naturally the ones I am most aware of.)

Maybe we could submit this as a memory or something? Not sure.

This is a great idea!

Submitted an attempt at it using the date the site went live, Jan 6 2020

Good idea, but with what timestamp ? 05-MAY-2018 seems to be the oldest date bute 04-OCT-2019 is the release for “Abundance”.

I did a code for when it was finalized, but I am not confident in it. I haven’t had luck submitting memories myself idk if I’m bad at the formatting :downcast_face_with_sweat:

I think @citizenScientist’s approach of using the site date makes sense, but the pdf published specifically on Abundance is dated 6 May 2018. (The ADS site can be a bit hard to navigate, very academically structured, you have to click “Downloads” to find the pdf report. Otherwise you just get the ‘abstract’ (intro).) I think using that date would make the most sense. I can submit it if no one else gets to it first, but don’t wait for me!

Back again. You’ve all been busy! : )
This is the Galactic Coordinates from that Abundance HQ archaeology link:
Abundance HQ, Legacy Hub 0469:0081:0D6D:0193

That can be converted to this: Portal 11930256EC6A address.

Though I think originally it was all PS4 but today’s game is ‘cross-save’.

Hoping I can try to do it tonight and add the archeological sites as timestamps. The way Goldrush worked so well I suspect more are like this

Some of my notes placed here so I don’t lose my chaotic list of madness. In summary, as there is a lot. Just me trying to make sense of portal numbers and what they are. Maybe we have to visit all the NMS Love bases and see if there is anything interesting that still exists that might be significant memories.

Dug down to reach several communication stations . Some are really deep over 400u!

Value: The Love of Game

In theory, this is a place to come and express any ad all positive notions or observations about NMS and Hello Games. Through the maelstrom of the ninth there is still much to love and even more to share. Keep the drama elsewhere. This is about open interpretation and being able to fully stretch out and relax into the game as it was meant to be played, the chance for your inner child and imagination to meet up and run deep into the cosmos. Over the next mountain and into the deepest cave, penning your own story of what and why as you go. Fly free and boldly go before coming back to tell us about it.

A Rose, a Stone, an Unfound Door

These words form a famous literary echo originating from the prologue of Thomas Wolfe’s 1929 novel Look Homeward, Angel. The original quote reads, “…a stone, a leaf, an unfound door…”. However, the variation “A Rose, a Stone, an Unfound Door” is widely celebrated as an allusion to Stephen King’s The Dark Tower series. In King’s epic, the phrase serves as a haunting refrain linking the central elements of his universe: the Rose (representing life and art), the Stone (the Dark Tower), and the Unfound Door. It even shows up as a named star system in the video game No Man’s Sky.

Yes the date on the report is nice. On the pics we can see daylight so I arbitrary chose 11 AM.

I’ll use 1525604400 for a try

HOLY CRAP you guys want to hear what got a certain non-gamer interested in NMS? It was this Kotaku article from 2017 …

(didn’t start playing until 2020, but hey.) I had a bunch of bookmarks from Reinhard’s original site, but that site disappeared long ago, and I never got around to searching anew. So glad to reconnect with his project! Thank you!
