Im kinda intrigued about Musk. Also about peoples perceptions of him.
I see alot of musk/x/spacex negativity around, on here too.
Why is that?

Havenāt seen much spaceX negativity around here, honestly.
And negativity about Muskā¦ also not that much. Not specifically, not personal. The problem is, a single person with that much power is a problem. Even if theyāre the best, most upstanding person in the world (which Musk isnāt, but I think also not objectively worse than many, many other people), theyāre still a problem. Because any single decision just has that much potential of causing damage. Itās not a position anybody should be in. One might argue itās not a position anybody should be allowed to be in, but honestly, things get morally waaaaay too fuzzy at that point for me to tag along. In my opinion though, anybody that wants to be in such a position, has already shown that they shouldnāt be.
I donāt think Musk deliberately sets out to cause harm - but I donāt think he particularly cares if he does. His self- confessed personal mantra is āmove fast, and break thingsā He is extremely clever, and enormously rich. That gives him a great deal of power, which does not seem to be tempered by conscience or concern for others. A very dangerous combination.
Nothing negative about Space X here. We follow it with much enthusiasm in the Space thread. If we laugh at rockets blowing up, it is because it is kinda fun to watch.
And we try not to get political because it is so devisive but we also try to keep people informed. Donāt believe something just because many say it is so.
Indeed not that much here, theres not much negativity in any form here, thats why its such nice place. Only time that I remember was around the time Musk took over Twitter there were a couple doom and gloom posts.
Personally Im reserving judgment. I dont disagree with anything said here, I think his big picture mentality will upset some people.
If Trump wins in November he could gain a lot of power, it will be interesting to see what he does with itā¦ wait and see I guess.
During his time in office, Trump recruited a lot of unstable, right-wing extremists to serve his cause. Most of them didnāt last very long, when they discovered thereās more to government than spreading lies aand personal prejudice on social media. When it became apparent that they were a liability, Trump threw them under a bus. Being Trumpās enemy is dangerous - but itās far more dangerous to be his friend. I donāt envy Musk his choice - I think heāll find heās riding a tiger.
I just want to point out that in his rally speech yesterday, Musk announced he is ādark MAGAāā¦no idea what that means but this world has enough darkness already.
When you realise Elon Musk just so desperately wants to be an Edge Lordā¦ Everything about him makes sense like, you can now predict his every move.
I find these vids fun, especially when they go for the purposefully bad joke Titles (this is coming from a man who thinks the highest form of comedy is someone watching and reviewing the despicable me movies in reverse chronological order; so what I find funny is up for dispute)
Yes. Tornadoes spin up in hurricanes but they are quickā¦not with Milton. These tornadoes are shocking meteorologist
Yes. Itās quite sad. āTruthā used as a political tool in peddling lies.
Certain politicians are baiting their verbal hook with lies that are designed to reel in voters. They are making a bass out of a lured voter.
ā¦ Couldnāt resist making a fishing reference.
I was going to post this in music tastes but then I thought this might be a better place for it since itās more about the Animation than an old Kate Bush song
Iām awaiting the answers with great unease.
Yeah that about fits it alright.
@sheralmyst, I trusted you to not dump āpoliticsā on me so I warily clicked.
Was worth it
Gas tank full. Pantry stocked. Hunkering down today with my channel that shows all my 24/7 news at once.
Good luck, America. God help us all.
Hanging out with friends in discord and have a some more news stream or a Tim Heidecker stream to flip between starting at 1 am my time, I can only view your elections through the safety filter of comedians.
I actually remember 2016 going to bed thinking, no way that guys getting over the line.
Woke up to a confused world.
I am not going to sleep this time
Just know your international friends will be on the edge of their seats right there with you 07
A commentator on BBC last night said that regardless of the outcome, we should enjoy the spectacle of the US election - because if Trump wins, there wonāt be another one.
I stand by the historians. Do not trust in an institution simply because it has existed and worked for a long time. Empires collapse. Countries implode. Governments fail.
People just simply do not believe it could ever happen here. Iām sure the Pompeii residents painting the frescoes when they died thought the same.
