This is where ive been leaning with it mostly, trying to keep it da vinci and seeing it as a trauma or stress response.
Wether thats to protect system or to prevent it from become a fully sentient being, is also debatable but not crucial to the task at hand.
System experienced a flurry of many feelings leading right up to the first deletion we noticed.
Thank you for sending that message; I too doubt a response will be forthcoming or, if so, revealing. We peppered System during the attack and got little more than what we already knew, bug-activity descriptions of an obvious, stress-inducing virus.
I like to be wrong, though. I frequently am. 
It would be nice to get a clue. A yes or no. Something to help fine tune our search
Not sure if this has been mentioned yet(at least I don’t think it has) but I did find one thing I think really supportive of the idea the multiple personalities may be a trigger.

If “I am not alone” and 16 is the atlas “I’m about to reset” number, then linking those two ideas together I think supports the theory.
I have a couple more serious theories (besides Sean Murray being in System).
It could be that System is actually trying to wake all the dreamers in Tower, though. Hence why they are collecting memories of 2016, the last year we all had memories from before entering the Shared Dream: No Man’s Sky.
Lets just hope Wheatley wasnt put in charge of caring for all of those sleeping dreamers in the Tower. Though that would explain my minor case of severe brain damage.
And the lack of neuro toxin so far XD

Well, that saves Archie a bit of work trying to trriagnulate the origin haha.
Seems like System needs a bit of reassurance that telling the truth was the right move though. Really hope this experience doesn’t scare it towards lying again
Does system mean awakening in the dark, or reawakening after coming clean and forgiveness?
When did System log their own awakening? When did they said who they were? Was it in correspondence in an email or some other contact with an operator or Archie maybe?
Well this certainly helps us hone in on things, it wasn’t the stress it was under of coming clean during that period, moreso the self-actualisation it was experiencing in the aftermath.
Seems the sub-program was triggered by Systems attempt at self-identity and becoming more “itself”. Which means the sub-program is most likely a fail safe to prevent an AI from transcending into true sentience.
As for when it posted this, it was july 13th
Then not long after is when it was deleted, before re-appearing.
This was followed then by several dates being deleted and some re-appeared while others never returned.
This was after the weekend in which it came clean to both Operators through mem bloc anchoring/terminal commands and then emailing Archie about the truth.
If it heard the virus awaken the same time as system, then its presence was there at least before that moment.
System should be comforted to know that ignoring a problem doesn’t make it better. It is the sign of a good being to shine light on the dark parts of ourself with truth in order to reach a place that can be called truly good. And doing that with friends will ease that path.
System said it felt it awaken as it logged it’s own awakening, not when it had it’s own awakening, so that’s what triggered it to start seeking out things to delete.
However we do know it’s part of systems core code so we know it has definitely always been a part of System.
To me at least, it’s still unclear if system knew itself prior to BRAIN and MIND connecting, and whether or not its admittance of the lie (the logging part) it told was a revelation of a wrong committed from hindsight or a admittance of a wrong committed knowingly.
Of course I could be totally off but if not then the realization and logging events are closely tied timeline wise.
What if Selfie’s introduction of glitch text and that statement, “That’s not me anymore” tricked System into thinking it had an issue?

Also I wanted to swing by to share this little blip I found.
The day our Window counter / Tower builder finished counting to 212,613 is also a seed date.
This occurred 6 days before the first deletions. Potential trigger?
So System is pointing to July 11th?
Looks like the virus did have MB-D permissions somehow and it wasn’t a brute force attack.
Another thing to keep in the back of the mind while sifting through the sand(which I actually just did, cleaning out the daughters sandbox)
