Elon Musk warns U.S. Governors of the A.I. threat

I look forward to an Andrew type android (Bicentennial Man) help me as I toddle about in my old age. Learns how to be more more helpful. I like it. Just so long as the “serve and obey” parameters are locked.
I wouldn’t like an iRobot type screw up due to a master AI influence. Nasty!
Yes, its sci-fi but so much in our current life echoes futuristic dreams from the past.
Where’s my damn flying car tho!!!
I want my flying car!!!
Although on second thoughts; a traffic crash would be a lot more serious at 2000mtrs.
Sorry…got distracted… aaaaaarrrrrgggghhh *!

Not really, all innovations should be given thought to safeguards before they are thrown into the public. Waiting for a problem to occur seems incredibly naive to me. That’s why extensive testing phases are used.

That is sometimes referred to as very narrow AI.

Well, we got this quote from Rick Cook to sum it all up:

Programming today is a race between software engineers striving to build bigger and better idiot-proof programs, and the Universe trying to produce bigger and better idiots. So far, the Universe is winning.

The real question is, does that mean an AI will fail/be broken by users? Or does it mean we won’t stand a chance? ^^

As I was reading your comment I was thinking " I better mention idiocracy in my response."

Then I got to the end XD
