Concerning the amount of questions to submit, with some coordination and seeing what is already provided prior to each new submission, I can imagine it being helpful in getting a nice variety of questions in.

I agree with that sentiment honestly, and that’s very similar to what’s being planned for use in the NMScord (A forum within the NMScord where users can submit multiple questions with a slowmode for >= 1 Hour between posts, where users can only vote on each question inside of a post)

I know polls can be multiple choice, but can you restrict how many choices? It might be helpful to allow voters to pick two or three choices from the poll, if this is possible. This will ensure that we dont end up with only 5-6 of the questions getting votes and being left with a bunch that get zero or perhaps a bunch of one votes that tie for 9th or 10th place etc.
I dont see this being all that likely considering the amount of varied voters we’ll have making their decisions but it would help proof us from the possibility.
Edit: I just checked the advanced build poll options, and it is possible to restrict amount of choices on a multiple choice.
I think 2 choices seems fair but 3 feels like it fits with how nms and this arg loves itself a trinity.
Edit: its been very kind of system to go with Autonomous verification this afternoon while we are busy trying to iron out the specifics of our question gathering

I’m satisfied with a split approach that we seem to be converging on - one submission each here (which will focus what question I propose as I won’t want to repeat something already suggested) and a more open approach in discord.

Multiple Choice poll seems to be the best option, where I can set a minimum and maximum amount of choices that can be made. I can not have min and max equal, and the min has to be 1 or more. So in that case, a minimum of 1 up to 3 is possible.
A Ranked Choice poll would not work well, as every single option than has to be selected in order.
A Number Rating poll appears to be broken, as I can not alter the max value.
Single Choice would be the only alternative we could use.
Our voting is required to be done through a poll, as we have no control over ‘reactions’. This means we are also required to have a closing on question submission before we can even get a poll started.

The only thing that differs functionally between the two platforms would be the number of submissions per Operator then, but if we clearly mark those differences out for Operators joining externally I think we could have a good variety of question types across both forums then.

I think they took this as more or a, we are down for a Q&A as the Architect.
Also good to remind folk that the q and a answers will be published in the NMSzines 16th issue which will release close to the NMS anniversary.
Archie needing time to come to consensus on the nature of the q and a is the first notable indication that there is indeed a team of people behind this and that they are all open to suggestions and changes from either member involved in its design.
This gives me the impression that the ARG might go beyond august 9th as well.
Out of hearts/reacts for a few hours so will be a while before I can return and thumbs up things.

So what is planned for amount of questions to submit over on Discord? Just letting it go free, with only a time limitation?
I believe that’s the running idea so far, allowing multiple Operators to open seperate threads on the NMScord Forum with different questions, allow voting for each thread for a limited time, select the top X questions after a set deadline, and then present that as the NMScord’s pool for the final vote.

With reactions being used in Discord, that is easier to manage that way, I guess. For here on the forum, I am not against multiple questions, as eventually it would be limited to 15 (if that is what we decide on). I can just not make use of reactions, and am forced to setup a poll.
Because of that, I have two options:
- be forced to first wait on all poll options to be available
- allow the poll options to change along the way
considering a user can change vote as long as the poll is not closed.
However, the more questions are provided, the longer the list of options will become, which is my main concern actually.
And how do you feel about operators making a choice where to submit their questions? Not really something I wish to try strictly enforce, but could be advised?

If we’re running with having a single poll being set up to select the top 15 submissions for ETARC’s pool, then I think it’d definitely be best to have a set deadline for question submissions to the reply of that post. To further limit which ones are added to the internal, we could potentially select only the top X questions (based on hearts? replies to questions?), though thats a lot harder to think of a good way to process I admit, without allowing users to set up seperate topics per question (which would probably trash the forums even harder since we can’t set up sub-categories).
About the choice, I think as long as we’re clear about the differences between the two platforms, that’ll hopefully encourage Operators to pick one platform, though we could also set up pins in both NMScord and here, encouraging picking one.

I think they have something else for the 16th issue. They said the answers should be revealed as soon as they are received and they will answer all the questions short (I assume it’s a typo) after 8th July

Can the shorting not be done just on number of hearts.
Question suggestions thread - allow only questions to be added to the thread, and one question per user. The top 15(?) with most hearts make it to the shortlist.

@ThatBomberBoi I think we’re almost there when it comes to getting this setup. The only thing still not quite clear to me, is the actual final voting to end up with the final 10 questions. Where are we going to have that poll?
Meantime, I am going to create a new topic for question submission, which I will keep closed until it looks good to go. Hopefully rather sooner than later. I will have some decisions to make, but that should work out with what I have seen for feedback.
