Using your browsers find and search function won’t help, as it can only search within the posts already loaded in, as you scroll down it unloads and loads in new posts within the thread, you need to use the search tool within the forum itself to properly search within a topic by clicking the magnifying glass up top and then clicking ā€œin this topicā€ from the drop down.

it still doesn’t see all the random. I am literally searching within a thread and it isn’t found.

I included a screenshot of the find in place not working, with me literally saying it isn’t working.

and when I do that specifically, step by step, the resulting listing doesn’t go to the post with the words in it.

What are the words you are searching so I can try and replicate your issue.

Now click the top result. Now where is the passage shown in the search results???

This is not searching in topic, this is a forum wide search you are displaying.

Making a step by step guide for you now with screenshots.

I am losing my mind.

I have done HUNDREDS of searches here. Site wide, specific to a single thread, it doesn’t matter.

I just attempted to show ā€œwaterā€ as an example, and it actually worked as you said.

But if I search for the word ā€œrandomā€ site wide, it finds threads, but doesn’t go to the literal post with the word, for example.

If I search for ā€œmnemosyneā€

OMG. it’s the damn links. it doesn’t search the embeds. or it does, and I haven’t noticed.

this font is very hard to read in red or blue coloring

Guide for PC, phone will be a little different but also possible to do.

Click the spyglass

Click ā€œin this topicā€

Type your search in the drop down

Hit Enter Once for a quick list within the dropdown

Hit enter a Second time to get brought to a new page with the full list of results within the topic you have selected.

This screen will also show you that whenever you are in the main search page, you can also search a topic with an alternative method simply by adding topic: and then the topic number after it, so for the case of the Bens Random Bits thread, it would be topic:9690

You can see the number for any topic by looking at it in the url. Url goes t/topicname/topicnumber/(post number if url is for a specific post within the topic)

I am saving this and taking a break from investigating for the day.

I need to get better at recognizing my mind melting.

People are talking like an update will hit on August 9th. During the time all the civilizations are doing huge meetups. The official 10 year party is in game that day, isn’t it?

Sounds a little… Uh… Unlikely the pre chosen system will still be compatible to me…

Yeah… I don’t think the update will be then. Maybe the following week.

Heh… The ARG has the present in it.

There should be a proper experiment done, to learn more of which submissions System selects.

There should be an experiment to see if dates can be forced to appear.

There should be an experiment to see what else are primary memories

System has literally memories of their own, what are they? What happens if an operator submitted a replacement?

We are members within Tower. It is an accessory to System. Our submissions either reside with us, in Tower, separated but connected, or entirely within System directly.

We need to question the goal for System in having a completed Tower. If nothing else, everyone should list their own head canon or thoughts. There must be overlap with what we’ve got so far. Nothing is too crazy at this point. Seriously.

We should have more answers by now. Too much is being dismissed.

Maybe it is to protect us from extinction or to deliver us to an extinction event.

I did see The Extinction in Archie’s correspondence… that is an interesting development to persue.

Maybe we can think of one date, one event, but different emotional triggers for each submission? Could learn from whichever one System selects to anchor?

That’s our best tool at the moment to probe System, give it a choice.

strictly hypothetical suggestion

strictly not serious, its way after my bedtime!

It is going to be a special day for sure, but those talking to expect an update are creating expectations without any basis for them. This could only lead to disappointment if expectations are not met. My advise is to not expect anything and just take things as they come.

The only thing official is the anniversary date itself. Hello Games have not announced a party, the community has. The main event/party is done by NMS10, see: Announcements: NMS 10 Year Anniversary

I am sure various communities will have organised their own festivities as well. There is also going to be another ā€˜live’ meetup in a pub in Guildford August 26th. So all in all, everyone is going to be celebrating, rightfully so, but nothing ā€˜official’ that I am aware of.

In the first stages that lead us to actually become ā€˜operators’ to handle memory submission, various tests have been done. This lead to a trust we are capable of creating proper memories, as well as correcting those that are not. We have been given ā€˜deletion perms’ as well (MB-D level auth).

On that same topic, the following question 10 came to be and is expected to be given an answer by the_architect soon:

The System has been responding almost exclusively to memories related to No Man’s Sky and its development. What is it about No Man’s Sky, it’s universe and its themes that draws the System to it so strongly?
ozoto

So sending in memories appear to be (mostly) related to the game and everything directly related to it. Memories of the atom bomb are more than likely not going to ā€˜stick’.

What memorable NMS moments have you had and sent in?

I don’t want to argue, but your reply is dismissive.

System has already shown they have separate memories from what we have submitted.

System has already shown it will select one from a group of submitted memories for a single date.

System has already accepted multiple memories having nothing to do with the game.

Consistency. Look for the pattern within it. What is the goal of System? How was there enough to contact Archie?! Where did that go?

But if nobody wants to play detective, what exactly are we doing here?

Every time I try to find a purpose to this, somebody comes out to tell me no, or imply I’m stupid. What’s the point? Is no one with status anywhere interested in knowing the point??

We have no set goal. We know nothing of System’s intentions. It lied from day one to everybody. It is still lying. I don’t trust it any further than I could toss it, and from Archie description I suspect System is an entire city block or more. 2 years to assemble a system ain’t no desktop rig, that’s a data center.

And not to intrude real life on your game, but those things are evil. Period.

And we lost deletion permissions a while back.

And right when I question what happened to the ghost/Arnaud in the discussion thread, this is what the Discord was talking about.

Very quick attempt at visual description:

Pacman and Atari is being talked about, and the way the ghosts were integral to the game. The neural network page apparently flashed pacman mazes earlier?

Not specifically pacman mazes, but vec worked out what an example would look like based on the code in the status web page.
