Base Pics are Amazing

Haha that’s funny. ‘Signature Drop In Shaft’ lol. Is there a first-aid kit or sofa at the bottom?

Yes. I added a health unit and a terminal after the photo was taken. Maybe I should have put all the rooms on the bottom floor. No one will want to go back up.
Can I add elevators to the ‘what I would like to see added’ list?

It needs a pool at the bottom.
Then you could really call it a “Dive.”

Nothing special but I experimented quite a bit with base parts and design ideas I have not previously used - the main reason to setup this base was to be on an Extreme Environment planet long enough to max out the Extreme Survival milestone and zip around in the Exocraft to collect storm crystals.

I’m glad my father is not Darth Vader, He doesn’t know it yet but on his game save I tunnelled underneath his base on top of the mountain for a giggle … and built 'my base ’ underground with a sneaky entrance or exit for a quick getaway. I drilled down as far as I could. Shhhh it’s our secret! Months later … I’m still waiting for him to find it. LOL

The ‘secret’ entrance or exit perch was intended to be at the bottom but the technical limits of the voxels meant I couldn’t dig deeper. Seeing the pictures again an idea has popped into my tiny mind.

Not just ugly, also a huge pain to glitch everything together

Almost reminds me of the space gun from subnautica a bit…

Seeing all these constructions, I really hope they will have some system for beyond that allows circular construction. I have hammered my brain a few times in the past on how to design an interface to make such a system actually usable and pretty much drew blanks, but maybe they come up with something ingenious.

Then again, looking at UI in NMS in general, probably not

My Last base for NEXT/VISIONS before whatever BEYOND brings.

What I think would make a huge difference would be a toggle for more lock steps on the rotation of pieces rather than just 90 degrees and then being able to do the same on a vertical axis at least with the cubes cylinders etc.
Also once you place a cube/cylinder being able to rotate one on top (with more lock steps) rather than it being fixed to the angle of the lower one.

Im hopeful for a building update but think its more likely we’ll just get more assets to play with rather than changes to the ui. Not that I’d complain more stuff to mess around with is always good

Yes. I would like to see a build ability similar to what is in The Sims which allows you to rotate to any angle as well as increase or decrease the size of the object you are placing. The Sims also allows you to use a cheat menu to lock and unlock the capability to place objects closer together than otherwise possible.

That will let you build circular walls, but if you officially support that, you now need adaptive floors and ceilings that will reshape dynamically to circle segments, because players will expect the parts to interlock correctly, not just overlap. Which still isn’t too complicated in and of itself, except that there’s a lot of parts involved, and with things like the slanted roofs it is far from simple.
For example, if you’re building a round hall, you’re eventually going to end up with a circle-shaped hole in the middle, and the last piece of floor needs to be reshaped into a circle to fit in there, and needs to do so in a way that all its attachment points connect to the neighbouring tiles. Of which there will be a variable number depending on the radius of the circle, so now we’re talking about dynamically adding or removing attachment points based on surrounding tiles.

But that’s not the worst of it. The worst comes when the player wants to do something that essentially needs the game to know what he wants to do to correctly shape them. Imagine the simple scenario that a player builds a large hall with rounded corners. You’d intuitively expect the floor tiles to shape in a way that would ultimately lead to a sharp corner at the end of the radii. But that wouldn’t be what happen, because the game has no way of knowing whether you’re building a circle or a round corner. Algorithms to detect that stuff are ridiculously complex to write, and they’ll frequently mistake the intention of the player and lead to frustration.

Oh, and then there’s the third dimension as well. Once you can build circular walls, you want to build dome-shaped roofs next.
So you decide to implement a way for the player to communicate their intentions so they’ll end up with floors and ceilings interlocking the way they want. And now you end up with an interface potentially as complex as 3-d editing software.

Maybe I should be more specific. The decorative items are the things I would like to see increase/decrease size added to.
As for the building pieces, just being able to rotate them and have them snap together would be nice.

Id love to see this on the pS4 version…If you’re into mods I think this would address your snapping issues, also adds in loads of assets.

Try the Tesseraction mod on PC, it adds more snapping angles to the base building parts (it’s also included in Eucli-ea).

Thought Id try a pvp (pvm ) indoor arena type thing …

Sorry for spamming so many images

Not spam at all. You just happen to be a very talented and creative builder. It is always a joy to look at your creations.

Wow. What Sheralmyst is totally true, you’re by far the most creative Traveller that I have seen so far! Congrats, this one looks absolutely insane!! How much time did it take to build this one?
Jesus I hope we can cross-play soon!

Thanks @arpoja, Not sure how long. Took a while, mostly placing stuff to delete so you can build other stuff

I’d like to see crossplay too…as we’re all part of the nms ‘universe’ I’m hopeful that it’s part of the pillar one.

“No Man’s Sky Online includes a radical new social and multiplayer experience which empowers players everywhere in the universe to meet and play together”
