Screenshots v2.0

What are those? This certainly doesn’t look like an anomalous planet.

I have found these calcishrooms to be on grassy planets. The planets seem fairly normal except there are no trees.

does the symbols mean anything?

I wish we could decipher these markings as a side quest. Maybe find clues in the digs at ancient sites that would help us gradually learn their meaning. There is writing (heiroglyphs/petroglyphs) on the Anomaly and other places as well.

Unknown…, although the same out-of-service type flashing, red symbols appear on crashed Salvageable Scrap satelites.
I think that both are relics from the great sentinel war, that resulted in the rest of the broken things (freighter wrecks, salvaged modules, redacted/anomoly planets etc.)
If so, I wonder which side they were on?
Currupted sentinels sometimes pop up when scavenging scrap but it did occur to me that it is possible that they were actually kamikaze drones taken down in combat, not security as I first presumed. They too are a mystery.
I’ve pretty much decided that the calcishroom worlds are some sort of failed bio-botanical colonization that simply stopped and didn’t reach its final point of growth…or maybe it did?
All the weird worlds are hard to explain, other than maybe being the glitchy result of tbe Atlas editing and resetting. Most seem sort of broken or somehow trashed and abandoned.

Perhaps the red symbols are just a shared graphic and means nothing other than ‘it’s broken’.

Probably a discussion that needs its own topic rather than hijacking this lovely screenshots thread :flushed:

I like this idea for rare or deep quests that could be trickled into the game.

I am reminded of the Star Trek Next Gen episode where several Alpha Quadrant powers were seeking DNA sequences that were spread out among several planets to decipher an ancient message from a progenitor race.

What I miss in the game is buildings. Not one 30 mins away from others . The ? was good now planets feel empty.

Here is a good pic of the Edge of the Void. The left just the mirror of the galaxy.

A deer?

uncovering area only at 10% or os

no buildings just ruins

Different planets have different population density. You can find planets where there’s almost always a building in visor range.

@jedidia It is not as ya say, most planets do not have “population center”, previous version 1.3 etc had buildings you could see. One after another and walk between then and fond interesting things.
Now you may have a group of 6 in one area and nothing for 30 mins or more. I spend time searching/walking/flying on planets.
When I state no buildings tis what I mean.
But hell HG/Sean knows best … they are bloody right all the time.
We are just travelers in their world.

It is one of my favorite things to do: land on a planet and hoof it from pole to pole ( love it when you are walking south and suddenly you realise you are walking North and it dawns on you that you made it to the the other pole.)scanning stuff an gathering resources and finding recipes in buildings and snippets of lore, etc.

I’ve never been that fond of the exocraft --except for extra storage.

Oh, and in keeping with this thread, have a screenshot or two…, or three…:
