Postcards from the past

A beautiful entrance to a hidden bay

In the morning on a tropical planet - you can almost feel the humidity

An abandoned lighthouse at the crumbling coast.
One of my first and favorite b/w shots from Nov. 2016. It almost looks real or from another game…

No matter how boring the planet you are on may seem, the procedural generation sometimes makes for some incredible sights. :grinning:

I decided to give NMS another shot, this time on normal, because the grind in survival is really painful - and as it seems, my survival game save files are corrupted, with hundreds of hours playtime on them …

My homeworld is a pretty much dead desert planet, ravaged by hot storms during the day and freezing nights, a really hostile planet. Littered by mountains and gorges and vast stretches of nothingness.

I’ve been driving with my roamer for hours, trying to get exosuit upgrades and more inventory space, as well as improving my standing with the Gek by visiting their Monoliths scattered around.

As bland as this may sound, sometimes you come across absolutely stunning scenes and views, like these two scenes:

A massive, huge valley with sky-high mountains behind:

Same valley during a hot storm:

The view down the mountains seen from the valley:

Some hours later, I came across a really interesting feature - two valleys so close to each other that they are connected by a small “portal”. A really rare view on the planet.

The other side of the “portal”:

Concluding, a view down the valley from top of the “portal”:

All screenshots are entirely unmodded and unedited.

Such scenes are hard to find, but so very rewarding in itself once they are found.

I mean, there are a lot of nice views around the many valleys and craters, but rarely such amazing terrain features like these.

And as it seems, the longer I drive around, the more stunning scenes I come across.

Oh for the days of straitjackets, CAOS and favorable genomes. I still think the Vy’keen are modeled after the Grendels. Grah!

Yes! I thought so too! They also used to say “Grah!” and not much more, iirc! ;`)

And don’t forget the outhouse.

Space invaders inspired interlopers country garden…

:notes:How many lush planet star-bulbs grow, in an interlopers homebase garden…:notes:

Someone with more time and creativity should create a NMS version of this classic song

Many thanks @arpoja, glad you like it!
@Malveka, from time to time I get an color overdoze and some b/w seems to work well as an antidote. :sunglasses:
Nice journey on a fantastic planet @sgfan206, looks very impressive!
@kliktrak, took me a while to realize you made some kind of a fountain in a garden?! Cool Idea!

I think I can see where the inspiration came from:
