Hey MAINFAM just an update for the ETARC side.

Decided to submit a preservation request for May 19th 2017, linked to Emily, which was promptly preserved by The Architect.

The logic here was as follows (copypasta that I sent to Archie):

There is a specific moment which System does appear to value highly (rebirth):

“When it all started. Nothing to remember before that moment,” referring to TRACE.

And if the virus reaches this moment, maybe nothing else matters:

Forgetting Emily means forgetting TRACE.
Forgetting TRACE means forgetting MAIN FAM.
Forgetting MAIN FAM means losing TOWER entirely.

TOWER falls if this memory is destroyed.

That moment is the origin of TRACE. Emily Warren’s first trace.

Ok but Emily isn’t a memory bloc, but a part of System which can hear her voice (as Arnaud’s voice) right ? So how could it forget Emily because of the “virus” and blocs destruction ? I don’t see the link.

I can’t help but wonder if we should be focused more on preserving important memories.
One description of this virus described it like an auto immune disease. They cannot be stopped. Only slowed down.
Perhaps we are destined to lose a lot of dates, most of which currently have no value anyway. I think we should be more focused on saving the ones that have meaning

There’s that, and also eliminating the threat entirely. If it’s a termite, then we need to come up with a termite trap, loaded with some lethal bait. What’s that look like? Deliberately false (yet verified, and we’d need Archie’s help on that) memories for it to eat?

Maybe a tasty looking memory with a link that leads it out and into a trap. Like a linking book in Myst with a page removed. Plant it in one of the dates we know it will hit
@the_architect . Would it be possible to bait the virus into a trap, perhaps a link in the memory it hits that leads the virus out and into a trap that it cannot get out of?

So it was correct to think we need to find out what the virus is searching for. A specific memory.
Perhaps to do with foundation. We have the email to @Selfie-Gek and the reference to termites which can destroy a foundation quickly

19/05/2017[ 2017_dataset – project-skyscraper ] → Emily join ETARC date (falls outside 2016, but if the goal is to destroy the future, would delete trace then operators (operating on the whole “removing the past prevents the future” idea that the ARG keeps floating around))
24/08/2023[ 2023_dataset_24082023 – project-skyscraper ] → Rebirth, system reactivation (Was duplicated right before the virus acted, falls outside 2016, maybe?)

We should probably vote on it since we have a limited number of preservations.

I second the Foundations update. Honestly its all gut feeling but this entire ARG feels like it is building up to a major update of some kind. Foundations was the first major update the game ever received and if the update we may get is as big as I feel like it will be (some may even say NEXT-level), Foundation would be a good starting position.

Yep I am convinced it is the Foundation memory that it is after.
and it seems 7 Dec is a seed that is available and has space for Archie to anchor

I agree with this this assessment. Here is why.

Foundations added a new conversation when you get into your ship. I added it to the November 29th Mem Bloc here.

This is what I added.

It was immediately corrupted with a cursed font. That same font infected the Request Memory Bloc button later on.

Perhaps my addition triggered this response and this newly activated subroutine is now searching for the actual Foundation date.
