Future Backward Image

Being that system no longer needs Archie, we may be seeing more interactions with things like social media.

Didn’t sean refer to what they were doing with worlds pt 1 etc, as bringing their tech from the future (LNF), back into no mans sky.

He definitely made that statement somewhere because we had been saying that for a while. It was really nice to see it confirmed

Top Middle Date RGB channels - warped? (?6/??/2016?)

Right Date RGB channels (??/??/2016?)

Bottom Middle-Right Date RGB channels (14/11/2016?)

Left Edge Date RGB channels (22/??/2016?)

Fragment on right edge (Other Half of Left Date?) RGB channels

@Selfie-Gek has a mind like a steel trap and remembered this

So maybe the dateis important.
Maybe this will be a new screen for memory blocs or a place where remembered memories are stored

It does look like a screen at its centre, maybe our submitted dates will scroll past, like a 2d star screen, the glitching certainly gives off the effect of movement so I might just be reading too much into that.

Discord drive-by posting!

Multi people, multi step to this far along.

@Rinha used their peepers when it first dropped and noted it looked to say “REMEMBERING”.

@vector_cmdr found the matching font (Consolas).

@Gumsk noticed the readable small chunks in the moshed top and started matching letters to it.

Then we both started assembling and got to REMEMBERING (with the letters smearingly repeated to the left due to the mosh).

High confidence level collectively on this part.

The above matchup is ever so slightly off as the font is off-point and off-kerning to a weird value that is hard to hand match with transform.

The “B” aligns with the hex tip, 5 char on each side - so seems balanced underneath and likely no additional text in that section, just moshing.

If people want to recreate the text, the closest I got was 47pt Consolas, 2pt kerning, and 104% horizontal stretch. It’s still not quite right, but it’s close.

I am not sure on the font, but I do notice it not having the dot inside the 0, but actually using the diagonal. This is interesting, because it makes it appear like a page on the Project Skyscraper website with the glitched hexagon. However, on the website it uses ‘IBM Plex Mono’ with the dot. So why use a different font? It also does not appear to be using Roboto Mono, which is very similar or almost identical but distinctively different when it comes to the 1 not having a base, which Consolas does have.

Yeah, this is oddly intentional of them to use a differing font to the site.

With the slight mismatching potential, I’m guessing maybe it’s a derivative/alternative/clone/whatever (like Google’s Inconsolata or similar). It’s made a little harder by the “LCD glow” filter on its edges to quite pick out.
It’s been close enough to shape match a decent chunk so far, but curious to see if a better match can be made.

The word FUTURE as Hexadecimal ASCii characters:

Combined String (Space separated): 46 55 54 55 52 45

Combined String (Continuous): 465554555245

and backward: 542555455564

Some progress on the top-most date:

It’s a little rough, but it’s kind of a mess in that section.

Have been piecing it together in chunks from the CMYK channels where things are a little more orderly.
Recovering the first two digits and the top left as a whole is proving a challenge.

If we note it as AB/01/2016, we can compare with the close font match and see that B is most likely 0, 6 or 8. (I am leaning towards 6).
A maybe he horizontally compressed like the 0 was in 2016 and need scaling, or one of the channel mixes might have a clean extraction - it’s otherwise hard to say what it is at this point.
Worth noting: I haven’t rescaled all of the characters correctly (1’s for instance are still not re-scaled).

Edit: Updated with latest state of recovery. Seems pretty clear that it is 06/01/2016.

Doing some Future Backward thinking I was imagining what might the game look like exactly in the backward year 783 years on from the day it released:

9/08/2016 — 6/10/2809 – Timestamp 26500345200
Submitted a memory request for that year in 2809 : )

Summary

783 years on from the original game release, exactly the reverse of that year in 06-10-2809 Hello Games announces Sean Murray’s cloned brain releases update 3,200. BBC News reports for the first time human players can use their unique DNA gene map as a genetic code to insert into the egg sequencer. Exact chromosomal genes and traits can now be reproduced creating player clones. Players from all over the world begin assimilating their entire lives and dreams into the No Man’s Sky universe. Associated press reports on a growing number of unexplained missing persons referenced from new outlets across the globe.

No Man’s Sky’s extraordinary universe of holographic imagination spaces are unlocked to players.
A new game mode Permacrisis opens up the dramatic possibility of player base redeployment and their total destruction by the new Hive warrior class, the Scutellata Sentinels taking a name from the most viscous bees on Earth. New players receive a full sized fleet of freighters containing spaces for several thousand ships. Players can now switch out their holographic helmets and emotionally interact with environments feeling the sensation of warmth from a star on their skin and the rain in their hair. Player bases can be constructed by voice and text or built using their NPC pit team of choice. The same Grammy award winning NPCs teams that play music in the bars and space stations, now have a set of quick silver animations, hammering and building personal ships in the docking areas.

New missions reveal blue prints to build freighter docking and construction stations off worlds. Companions are now developed by the new A.I. ‘Jonesy engine’. Hello Games celebrates 300 years of its character companion and NPC creation mapping service continuing to provide their award winning story rich A.I. tailored missions, human and alien vocalised dialogue and interaction in any language, unique to every individual player entered ADP code via the personalised Atlas Dream Pass. Subtitles remain an option for the Steam Holographic Air Device activated by the familiar emotional response triggers. In homage to the seminal film Alien the ‘Jonesy Engine’ permits any creature or companion to interact with players, roam freely inside bases and stoaway when required in player corvettes, freighters and ships. The Hive is now a ‘living’ A.I. entity adapting game play, learning from player digital imprints, building tailored missions for unique game play.

A little hopeful addendum - 65 Days of Static Holographic NPCs.
Future Backwards thinking actually works the brain with ideas!:

Reconstruction progress on the left most date:

Confidence on the top right block match is ~50%, it assumed the right most block is a displaced chunk from it’s tail, and may not be.

The rest is from the same block in different channels, ribbons and scales so confidence on the first 4 digits & second of the year digits being 22/12/?0?? is high. I am still assuming it is 2016 like the others, and the top right chunk is a split ghosting.

Edit: extracted some more pieces from the yellow channel, looking a lot more like 2016 with the 1 smashed into the 6 and compressed similarly to the top date block. Also added some width corrections. Seems 22/12/2016 is the most likely read.

22/12/2016 led me to this story on gravitational waves:

Eagle eyed @Gumsk spotted this in the article:

You can be a part of it by joining “Gravity Spy,” a newly launched citizen science program, that helps researchers separate glitches from true signals.

Leading here (dated18/10/2016)

In gravity spy, citizen scientists use spectrograms to identify blips and whistles in the data.

This might be a lead, but even if it’s not could be an interesting side activity for some here.

Edit: started an IRL Citizen Science topic under general: IRL Citizen Science
