Works again in what way? Have we permanently lost all previous discoveries? My main system says “first contact - discovered”. And half the animals listed (have their names reset and) cannot be uploaded and have no marker saying that I or anyone
discovered uploaded them. In short, a bit of a contradictory state it is in. :frowning:

Ooh. One planet just remembered its old named after I landed. Maybe there is hope. Because I can’t remember all my puns.

Ive found my local cache is cleared and I need to revisit places ive been to repopulate my recent systems list.

Depending on commectivity to discovery services, sometimes it will show the info correctly as being discovered by me X months/years ago but sometimes it doesnt, but HGs servers will remember it so theres no risk of reuploading/overwriting a previous discovery. I think any requests like that will be seen as rename request from the original uploader.

If you didnt upload the ones you’re referring to though, its probable that it will act like its your first time visiting the place.

But the main takeaway from my above post is I can once again scan things like planets, creatures, plants etc without them suddenly becoming undiscovered/rescannable again and I can also access the discovery menu and click on the system and planet Im in, before it would be an incorrect list with systems and planets Im not in and everything greyed out and unclickable.

The discoveries hiccup in Cosmos was fixed but in a non-retro fashion, so if you played during the time it wasn’t fixed then played after the fix, anything lost during the time of no fix would need to be rediscovered I think. If you skipped the whole Cosmos and Expedition until now after the fix, nothing should be affected.

But even if you played on and never went back to your own systems/discoveries (for example I mostly stayed in MAIN FAM systems where discoveries were made by other people, or in the Expedition systems) .. Then your own discoveries should still be fine.

I think thats how it works, gathering from my own experience and other peoples.

The planet with my old main base lost its name. A while ago its type, weather, and colours changed, for the third or fourth time (interestingly, the terrain stayed the same, meaning the view from my window stayed the same, just completely different colours).

When do discoveries count for the Alliance score? Does rescanning everything, to remind it that I have discovered it years ago, count?

If a discovery became undiscovered, then you would need to rescan now that the fix is in .. But to be honest I haven’t found anything I needed to rediscover yet so take my replies with a pinch of salt.

I have not taken much interest in the alliance stuff so someone else needs to answer.
It all seems a bit of a pointless exercise to me unless you are in a the biggest one where you are likely to remain the biggest one due to sheer numbers adding to its points = Anyone else why bother.
I’m in the MAIN FAM Alliance, but will not be going out of my way to try and make it creep up the leaderboard ladder, as I feel its a no hope situation unless you have big influencers/youtube/reddit armies joining up.

All the creatures I named after Operators, in my own Window System, still have their names and discovered by me. I think I have been lucky (right now I just did the rounds of my bases and Space Stations, all seem to be good) ..

Could see the lights of the trade station as I bore down from the atmosphere and was taken aback as I got closer and the nearby crashed freighter loomed into view.

Still on this icy planet, just need to find last underground creature and a nocturnal swimmer. Taking occasional breaks to soak in the sights and break up the monotony.

I saw a delivery pilot trying to come closer than your (or it was the same when we see the result  )

Whenever I see something like that, I always think the freighter was there first, and someone saw an opportunity and built the trade post.

Years ago someone posted a screenshot of a TP between two crashed freighters on Reddit, and it looked like it had been too good an opportunity to miss.

I wanted to have a small junkyard base there but the junks we can bring with the colossus aren’t saved so that’s hard to be realistic with only the industrial decoration so I stopped.

I was exploring the second space outpost I’ve visited, and found a load of ladders. They go both up and down. The first lot I went down, and found the usual boxes, etc.

no sleep pods, but a bed

and an airlock door labelled with a starship symbol.

I thought, how odd, maybe it’s an outside I ladder, and went through it

Gravity was bit odd, in places you would fall “down” in station orientation, and others I could float about. It’s like the base was under propulsion and would push.

There’s some potential there, but like the planetary buildings, I doubt it’ll expand much.

Some of them have basements too, and there are some unique interiors and objects too you’d occasionally find in the old space station side rooms, like the old sleep pods that act as an interactable save point.

Some have ladders that lead nowhere too and glitch you out into space when you reach the top.

Some of these basements and second floors also have entry ways into them from the outside via airlock you can jetpack up to or out of.

Two buildings to explore is possible, but I once landed at one that had three large buildings to explore, havent come across one since but was fun to hang out at while getting rep up to buy the local space station.

Some of the ladders are hard to find/get on/off. I had to walk backwards into what looked like a dead end with one.

I think that one had three towers - I’m working on getting the space station so can confirm.

I was sure those were supposed to come only in black, but I guess I was wrong !

Fraternal twins! This has been my go-to mining tool for a while; the runic lens plus the beam makes everything from plants to curious deposits disappear in a puff of zap.

They act as torch boosters in derelict freighters too.

That’s a welcomed discovery!
