Going through the Autophage story for the first time with this ARG in the front of the mind is a awesome experience. Leaving this here as it might be relevant.
Also: The word autophage comes directly from Greek and literally means “self-eater.”
It breaks down into two root words:
- Auto- (αὐτό, autó) = self, one’s own
- -phage (from φαγεῖν, phagein, “to eat”; related to φαγός, phagos, “eater”) = eater or one who eats

Am I correct in saying that there was never an expedition centred around the Autophage? IIRC, they were included in an update along with the storyline but it was explored no further than that. I was kinda expecting more and I’m still leaning that way.

They Who Returned is the main mission that triggers the Autophage story line. You must complete the Artemis Path before you can start it. And I think you have to find a Harmonic Camp. Introduced with Echoes update. But no expedition

The Singularity expedition teased their coming introduction, where we all built the Spider Man Robot and I think this introduced Atlantideum as well as a concept, along with a few other things that remained unique to the expedition like scanning for the Giant Radiant shards with Weird constructs stuck/trapped in them.
We did not however, meet any Autophage during this expedition. Although Spider Man teased them quite a bit. And I guess Spiderman is sort of an Autophage though not entirely self-built, Polo helped them in this case.
These features and new resources would then get added to the game proper with the Echoes update.

The Swarm update feels very similar and reminiscent to Singularity. Introducing something new that may be implimented fully in a coming update.

Didn’t Singularity sort of introduce some aspects of the autophage, where we earned the first of the appearance modifications and didn’t that have the first community mission to gather the echoes? I may have mis-remebered though.

I was not able to comment on mine under your comment but I was also using my Android tablet because my PC settings are blocking me…maybe that is why my comment was rejected? Idk

Not sure, mine are being rejected immediately/getting an error now too, seems like it’s a bit bugged right now 
tried switching to phone after browser could no longer submit comments and the issue remains.

It just happened to me too. I feel like maybe I made more than 2 or 3 though. Perhaps its a global limit for all users?
