> **NOTE** : This topic is about the Memory Editing on the Project Skyscraper website for the Unverified Memory Bloc Editing Events, see: [unverified – project-skyscraper](https://project-skyscraper.com/tag/unverified/)

# Introduction

Following the `echoes` solve for the Six Seasons calender puzzle, Operators were provided with the ability to “edit” existing no/value memory blocs on the Project Skyscraper website. This occurs in the following timeline:

1a- An existing no/value memory bloc gains an `Unverified` tag, OR
1b- A new no/value memory bloc, which is already tagged as `Unverified`, is added to the site.

2- Either immediately after the tagging, or after a variable amount of time, an `Unverified` memory bloc goes “live” for editing. At this point, the page will gain a UI with the following fields:

> **Memory Bloc Editing - UI Fields**
>
> ## Operator ID
>
> Your username
>
> ## Memory Compliance Rating
>
> A Star Rating out of 5 for your own memory. Uncertain what this does, theories are mentioned below.
>
> ## Add Memory Fragment
>
> The text you’d like to input for a chance to be added to the page. Whatever you add will be vetted against live submissions being sent in by others from the page.

At this point, Operators must submit several pieces of information they’d like to anchor to the page. The page itself will slowly update (refreshing is required to see), anchoring in the most “relevant” entries, which acts as a clue for other Operators on what kind of entries to submit. Following a back-and-forth between anchored information and discussions between Operators as the event unfolds, the memory bloc compliance rating at the bottom will slowly change and undulate.

3- The editing UI will disappear and the memory bloc will switch to `Verified` once the `Memory Compliance: Percentage` reaches 100%

# What is this thread for?

Some initial questions posed by Operators about this system included:

- What the hell are the stars for? Do they increase an entry’s chances to anchor? If so, what’s stopping everyone from spamming 5 star entries? Why have lower star entries at all?
- Is the system _really_ expecting dated articles? Does it expect links at all?
- Is data convergence the _main_ factor for anchoring a bloc? Could we, for example, anchor a bloc entirely about porwiggles by having different community members submit coherent, similar entries about porwiggles?
- What exactly causes the compliance percentage to go down? Is it having non-conforming pieces of data on the page together?

This thread was created as a spot to discuss potential submission plans and coordinate across communities, particularly in a way so as to answer the questions above. This thread then evolved to become a “hub” for all information related to the memory editing events themselves, as well as a place to discuss future “actions plans” related to these events.

This top post will be updated with the current “action plan” once it is set for the next unverified bloc, which should be publicized to as many members as possible.

# Findings

From the events of 15th June, we can _fairly confidently_ glean the following information about the Memory Editing System:

1. Existing unverified posts aren’t the only ones that can go live for editing. Feb 10th wasn’t unverified in the 5-memory set from earlier; it was set to unverified and went live for editing immediately together.

2. It seems like NMS isn’t the only thing it’s looking for. The 10th Feb date had no remarkable NMS dates, but many community members submitted space-related articles and images, and we managed to anchor a general “spacey” memory together.

3. Editable blocs seem to start off with the ability to anchor in some of our “sillier” inputs, so it’s likely not all rigid. Though, those ones having a low compliance percentage might just be archie saying “its not a shitpost, go use your brains”

4. This is my personal theory based on how yesterday’s verifications went down, but it seems like the system picks out the first thematic post to NMS / Space / Tech that it finds, anchors in a part of it, and then waits for other Operators to add similar bits to fully anchor the memory.

5. We need a bloc title, a quote bloc and a Value to fully anchor a memory, as well as at least _one_ external link. Even when all of these are present, compliance may not go up to 100%, which seems to indicate that some part of the anchored bloc doesn’t fit the theme as well as required and that we should try to replace it.

Additionally, from the events of 20th June, we also realized that Operators should _not_ submit memories in other Operators’ names, even if pre-discussed (or at least not discuss such a plan publicly)

# Current Action Plan

As of the 21st of June, 2 memory blocs values have been anchored related to the founding dates of major NMS communities (NMScord and Galactic Hub), with @Oskar1up being reached out to regarding a similar process for the RSS. As such, the current action plan accomodates for such sessions as follows:

1. All Operators are requested to _refrain_ from inputting memories for the creation date of an NMS community, unless they belong to said community.
2. Willing Operators are also requested to find the founding dates of various NMS communities and compile a list, so that we may immediately identify which `Unverified` blocs are intended for specific-comunnity submissions.

Additionally, all Operators are requested to “park” their entries on the [Memory Engine Tracker](https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1_n8Z5AItsWIOVBg1-CNEBqB_xvIdsFoYlpj1NAW-myA/edit?usp=sharing) under the relevant sheet for the specified date as instructed, in order to make retrieval and planning much smoother than would otherwise be possible.

The current list of NMS Community founding dates is as follows:

- NMS Modding Discord creation - 17th August 2016
- The Alliance of Galactic Travellers is founded - 14th April 2017
- Creation of the NMS France Discord Server - 25th April 2017
- The Qitanian Empire is founded - 23rd December 2018
- Aurelis Prime is formed - 2nd September 2025
- Everion Empire is formed - 7th September 2025
- Voyagers Haven and Neoterra Collective Initialization - 3rd October 2025

How will we be assigned groups? I imagine we want all 3 to be roughly equal in size. Should we create a poll to see if people self-distribute fairly equally? or will someone pick a number for us?

I wonder if preloading our submissions on the sheet and self- assigning teams over there could work? We could have a small counter to the side for the number of submissions per team, and users would be encouraged to keep it balanced as they add to it. Of course, this is contingent on most participants actually _adding_ to the sheet.

If the data we see is correct, I expect there to be a lot of topics if each of the dates listed are going to be given a memory or recollection. If that is indeed going to be the case, I suggest creating a drop-down with a bullet list for them, in this top wiki post.

I still really like the idea of a copy-pasta about Porwiggles. If I came up with an Attenborough-esque narrative about the Porwiggle life-cycle, would it make sense to add a 4th team? I think I would suggest labeling it 1-star, as it would be fairly NMS related.

I had previous submitted a memory for this date - 65DOS album announced via mailing list. This was how I learned of No Man’s Sky. The two fit together so well.

I can’t recall exactly what I entered for the memory request. I used to love their gigs in my student days at sweaty mosh pits, or chilling and focusing with mathematical beats.

> If, above the white noise rainfall of the weeping of our souls, you had time to feel the bittersweet ache of that little 65daysofstatic shaped hole in your life, then trouble not, for here we are to solve none of that, but nevertheless here with you in this, the shortest and newest of epochs, these low, dishonest few decades between peak everything and the new nothing.
>
> Brothers and sisters, let’s hold hands.
>
> Here’s what we’ve been up to:
>
> A couple of years ago we were approached by video-game makers Hello Games to provide some original music for a new game they were developing, then known as ‘project skyscraper’, now known as ‘[No Man’s Sky](http://campaignmail.topspin.net/wf/click?upn=qJfYJWVJ-2BHxc0l4tyU-2FAK0zBOcffxLakeGvozvcKPMA-3D_lvX0o3ssN3M413iOSHFUt-2BcnD8ZLjTyAnH0OeMjQ2qLntLkVgwL9oik0bBRcM7gJmuu5CjV9JAuk-2F3jgZKtL67dCjDKkQ5EJ-2B5A6jkyykrW76P1OYIsDSx8zMMH1XJASXtj7rHvcl8mEzETo-2B-2BPIwPdBputGRTD04R-2FHqw9GnpyD4qGU4Z8HnaGqDBMzOTXQDRXqVS8tzrbtZmryDM-2BMYQi3wQ2EbuKrfa6jGBPANHCqOYx8t9FlsJdHPHxroozIKF8eHd-2B1yapEI0qziPzSiA-3D-3D "http://campaignmail.topspin.net/wf/click?upn=qJfYJWVJ-2BHxc0l4tyU-2FAK0zBOcffxLakeGvozvcKPMA-3D\_lvX0o3ssN3M413iOSHFUt-2BcnD8ZLjTyAnH0OeMjQ2qLntLkVgwL9oik0bBRcM7gJmuu5CjV9JAuk-2F3jgZKtL67dCjDKkQ5EJ-2B5A6jkyykrW76P1OYIsDSx8zMMH1XJASXtj7rHvcl8mEzETo-2B-2BPIwPdBputGRTD04R-2FHqw9GnpyD4qGU4Z8HnaGqDBMzOTXQDRXqVS8tzrbtZmryDM-2BMYQi3wQ2EbuKrfa6jGBPANHCqOYx8t9FlsJdHPHxroozIKF8eHd-2B1yapEI0qziPzSiA-3D-3D")’, a sort of hyper-real, solitary waltz through a parallel universe in search of oblivion or whatever else feels appropriate in the face of the indifference of eternity.
>
> The game, close to completion and due for release this summer, is also procedural, meaning, for those of you who don’t ‘do’ games, that it generates itself algorithmically rather than manually and therefore is, to all intents and purposes, evil. In other words, it means that the parts of the game one journeys through are theoretically unique, built by the game itself, and you are experiencing them for the first time. And the idea was to create an audio engine that also generated unique instances of music, albeit from a central library of sounds. 65daysofstatic sounds.
>
> Our sort of gig, right?
>
> Plus we got to go to Las Vegas and stay in a hotel room with a massive bath. But that’s another story.
>
> 65daysofstatic had been angling for a soundtrack project of some description for a while, but this seemed a little too perfect: classic sci-fi aesthetics married with a scope both cinematic and simultaneously HD but lo-fi, with a nice loose analogy for human loneliness or human agency or human desire in whichever unevenly distributed version of the future you happen to live in.
>
> Right now, two years later, 65daysofstatic are working really hard with Hello Games’ best scientists and magicians to finish feeding enough raw music into the gaping mouth of the insane A.I. composer-in-the-machine to satisfy the tabula rasa that will conduct this vast symphony of noise, in time for the game’s release in June of this year.
>

I like how we are fragmented just like in The Swarm… I should’ve gone Dragon’s Den just to stick with being Team Weaver.

We got four teams, that’s one better than what Hello Games did. Nyeh nyeh 🤪
