Uh, oh. It’s nice detailed observations like this that will cause the hype caravan (LNF is fantasy and more medieval look, after all) to go full tilt. 🤦‍♂️ 😅 **Light No Fire under the hype caravan steeds** , I say. This and Kanaju’s videos are my FAVs so far. ---

My personal head canon for LNF flip flops between it being a planet in Polo’s simulated system or, an indirect spirtual successor solution to surviving the destruction of the Atlas. My theory on that was always “atlas reality is also a simulation, figures out how to jailbreak out of it” which technically would be a way to view this new game, part of the next layer up of the stacked simulation rabbit hole. Assuming it’s not just a brand identity they will be sticking with going forward (its red, like joe danger _ **gasp** _ so maybe it is studio branding XD) ---

I played a game last year that did this really well, zero connection to each other in title but as you near the end you start to realise, oh crap this is the same world as that other game. I’ll blur it just in case I ruin this obscure twist XD The game its a sequel to I’d played briefly for a week on PS Plus but its world always stuck with me. Or maybe just that the “magic” of No Man’s Sky’s procedural generation is massively applied to a huge earth-sized planet with multiple biomes and more. ---

Hmmm. Just re-read the No Man’s Sky Press area text… “In fact, it [NMS] has its roots in Sean Murray’s experiences growing up on a ranch in the Australian outback. It was the true middle of nowhere, where **if something went wrong you were told to just stay where you were and light a fire at an exact time every day, and hope that someone would find you**.” If we are to light no fire, there’s got to be a good reason. Maybe we don’t really want “rescuers” to find us. ---

Probably nothing and me just getting excited over imaginary threads but a while back I remember 65dos saying they were interested in more soundtrack work. Sean Murray replied as if to say hey let’s work again. Their response was we already gave you an infinite soundtrack what more do you want? Sean replied “yeah, I know the feeling.”. 65dos last release was 2019… We’d normally hear teasings or have posts by the band about the next project by now. Their last album was described as a map to guide you through the wilderness (the wilderness being a large array of ambient noise and generative music you’d get full access to by singing up to their bespoke funding site). Honestly sounds like that little experiment might have set them up thematically for LNF. All just wishful thinking on my end, most likely won’t ever happen but man if it did… I’d be a very happy human. Or fox. Or badger. I still haven’t decided which I’m going to be. ---

Second album had some good tracks but I didn’t even make it through the third album on its release. I dunno if they have the mettle to score something but I’m happy to be surprised 😉 2012 me would be delighted at the prospect of Alt J scoring something. With the Last Campfire they used the music of Lamb for the launch trailer but used Paul Weir’s music in the game. With NMS they worked with 65DOS to create snippits that Paul used to generate procedural music for most of the game. I would expect them to follow the same arc with LNF.
